Do you just read or do you get really into the book?

I am just wondering what type of reader that everyone is. What I mean by that is do you really get into the book and can see stuff as it happens and can see the actual characters or do you just read it without really thinking about it that much? I am really into a book when I am reading it. If I start a book without finishing it and am doing something else I am constantly thinking about the book and what will happen next and thinking about the characters in the book and stuff. I can actually see the scenes as they play out & the characters and everything. I am not sure if this just makes me weird or highly imaginative. I would prefer to think that it makes me highly imaginative instead of weird. But, I really get into my books. So, do you get into them that much or no?

I would definitely get into the book. Sometimes I can't finish the book in one go and had to stop because of something, I would really look forward to reading the book when I get back to my place.

It depends on the book, really. When I read 'The Partner' by John Grisham - and found it impossible to put down - I was very much visualising the events of the story as they unfolded. Sometimes, however, if I'm not as impressed by the book - or find the story to have plot holes or a less descriptive narrative - I will just read it.
Of course, it's much more enjoyable - and says a great deal more about the author - when a book can be experienced, rather than simply read.

Sometimes I really get into the book and can visualize it, but some times it doesn't really grab me that much and I just "read" it. I think it mostly depends on the authors skill as a writer. So, no, you're not weird or anything!

I am the kind of reader that visualizes everything about the book. I have my own pictures of the characters and I even have images in my head of what kind of style that they have. I think that is one of the reasons that I really like to read and that I get so sucked into a book. Of course, I also think that the fact that my imagination runs wild when I am reading a book is the reason that I never really like movies that are based on books.

Usually, I also try to get into the history I read and I try to imagine that I am living the history myself. But it also happened to me with some books that I only read it only for reading. It just depends what I read and why I read that book. It's not the same to read a book because you want to, or if you read it because someone (for example a teacher in school) told you to read a book for some homework. And maybe this books might be boring because every reader has got quite different likes and interests.

Hi shayon . I usually get into the book only if it is a horror or romantic book. I really enjoy reading such books. I really admire getting inside the book and putting me as the character . It is a fabulous feeling . I read such book 3-4 times . And even after that I tried to read 1 more time , but I don't get time . Involving through he book has evolved from ages , right through the glory novel days of 19th century . Happy mylotting and have a nice day !

when i was in high school and college, i love to read books. specially when i don't have much things to do, i just stay at the library and look for novels that interests me. i really don't stop reading it until i finished the story. i used to imagine the scenes i'm reading, and picturing the characters and their actions.
but lately, i don't know why but i lost interest in reading. i couldn't even finish half a chapter of every books i picked.
wish i can go back to reading again. coz in reading, it makes my mind go to thousands of places to see, and i feel that i'm into the scenes and plots of their stories.

It depends upon the book what I am reading... when I read the comedy or romantic books.. I get into the book and resolve me as a character of the book and read.. but, when I read the subject book.. I don't get into that because those technologies can only be read not to get into that...

I love to read books. Some times I really get into them . It happens if the book is a novel of fiction or suspense drama.Generally I read books of comics which gives me some time pass. I don't like to read some serious philosophy or sad stories. Some books take you into the other world which does not exist.I like those type of books.

this would entirely depend on the genre type of story that i'm reading.
i'm a self confessed 'starwars-a-holic', so if it's a novel about starwars, the whole world can just forget about getting any reaction from me for about a couple of hours :)

I'm the same way you are! When I read, I get a little different voice in my head for each character and I visualize it as a movie complete with lighting and sound effects. Some people think it's weird that I read for enjoyment, but it's just like a really long movie in my head. I agree, I think we're just highly imaginative :)

It depends. Usually fantasy/horror books keep me engaged and I never lay my book down until I finish it. Yes of course, one has to get into the book if he falls in love with the theme of the book. I have encountered such circumstances while reading The DaVinciCode when the teacher explains about Mary Magdalene's womb. Also it happened while I read the final installation of Harry Potter i.e the Deathly Hallows.

I love reading and this is one of the main things I love to do! I can become totally engrossed in a good book and I become at one with the characters! What do I mean? Well, I really get into the story line and I have vivid images or pictures in my mind of the scenes being created by the author. When I read a book this is all I like to concentrate on, I don't like being distracted by other things. I love reading and it's a wonderful form of escapism, it gets me away from reality for a while and this is nothing but pure bliss! Some books can be so good in that you start to like the main character and you feel for them and you want them to do well and survive and get through that traumatic event that they may or may not be going through! Yes, reading is the best thing in my world! Andrew

It really depends on the book. If its a really good one I can lose myself in it, and lose all touch with the reality of what is going on around me. If its not so good then I'm just reading it and not really getting INTO it.
I do get attached to the characters of really good books, and wish there would be more books of the same characters because I want to know whats going on in their life now.

It depends on the book. If it really interests me I seriously get sucked into it. lol, sometimes if someone tries to talk to me while I'm in totally lost in the book it takes them like 3 or 4 tries to get my attention.
But if the book isn't that interesting and I can't really get into it then I just read it to get it over with really.

yes i see the characters in my head when i'm reading a book. when i really like the book i can't put it down and will usually read the whole day and night until i finish it. sometimes i don't want to start a book because i know i won't be able to do anything else. i am trying to stop myself from doing this but i still do it a lot, that is i read the last chapters to find out how it ends. do you also do this?
