I am an Indian and now a days in USA. Today one off teammate asked if given a chance would you like to accept the US citizenship. I said No, I know US is a very good country with good infrastructure and almost everything in place BUT I love my country and would like to settle down there only.
What do you think, will you settle down other then your country?

I love my country very much. Of course, sometimes I can't help it to get jealous to other countries better than ours. But I love my country more.
There are advantages and disadvantages in every country. Though I was born in the Philippines, I have love our country a thousands of reasons despite of the thousands of reasons to not. I have love our country of by heart and not by what I desire.

Yes, as you said there are good and bad with everything, may be some things are bad with the developing nations but that does not mean they are not good at all. Thanks for the honest response.

My husband is British and I could have a British Citizenship now. But I prefer to stay Indian. Granted, it works better for me as I have a business in India and we live in India.
Had the situation been different, I don't really know. Part of me wants to have the British citizenship as there are so many countries that you can visit without a visa and those countries that you need a visa for, are so much easier with a British Passport. In another way, I would not like to give up my Indian Passport either. If and when Indian Government allows us to have Dual citizenship, then I will get the British citizenship. I don't want to give up my Indian citizenship.

Even I can think of taking citizenship of US or UK but not at the price of Indian citizenship. Dual citizenship is good.
Thanks for the response.

This is a song in my country i like to share with you, of course , its with an English version, here it goes:
(TAGALOG)
Ang bayan ko'y tanging ikáw
Pilipinas Kong Mahál
Ang puso ko at buhay man
Sa iyó'y ibibigay
Tungkulin ko'y gagampanán
na lagi kang paglíngkurán
Ang laya mo'y babantayán
Pilipinas kong Hirang...
(English Version)
I love my own native land
Philippines, my Philippines
To thee I give my heart and hand
Philippines, my Philippines.
the trees that crown thy mountains grand,
the seas that beat upon thy strand
Awake my heart to thy command,
Philippines, my Philippines.
Most Filipinos know this song and needless to say, I love my own country. I will never change my nationality even if I live in India, no offense yaar. My husband too would agree to it .

I am a US citizen. I think it might be nice to visit other countries, but like you I would rather stay a citizen of my own country.

Oh, I love my country the Philippines. Even if it is indeed a poor country, but I love it here. In fact, unlike others who would like to work outside of the country, I'd say no, thank you, I just want to stay here for the rest of my life.

I have been in love with England for decades but I am an American. I would miss my home, hockey, a decent burger, and good pizza.

hi AjaySinghBaghel Thats only normal as its the country you
were born in and of course you will love it, I am in the US
and much as I might like to visit your country India I would
still want to live here as its my birthplace and I love
the US. It would be pretty abnormal if we did not love the
countries we were born and raised in. so I stay here in mygood
old USA.

I live in India as well and though this place isnt perfect i am so used to it that it will be so difficult to migrate to some foreign land.My all relatives and my immediate family lives here and my friends also. Its been 25 years i am here in this city and i think i dont even want to leave this city as well.
It will be really difficult for me to go to some other country and build life from scratch.

Yeah i love my country to. But there are times when we have to be a citizen of another country to work there and my aunt experienced this. Sometimes, it's just not practical to just not accept citizenship just because you love your country. In order to have a better life, you have to take decisions that don't go with your beliefs.

It's pain in the A$$ to love a third world country such as ours. Oh well.. better to have a country than to have nothing at all. It can get real hard to live in poverty-stricken country but that's where the drama begins and without dramas there would be nothing shown on tv that people love to watch. There is romance in every drama I watch in TV. I have yet to see which is not.

Hello Ajay
We Indians have a deep attachment to our country, rather to our village/town of birth, those in service always come back to that soil, make home there and want to take there the last brethe amongsts the near and dar ones..
You are right, we should be proud to be indians inspite of many 'beimanns', who have spoilt our image..
Thank you so much for this nice discussion, cheers
God bless you.

im not the patriotic kind but I dont have any problems with my country but honestly i prefer now the country i'm living on than my original country. I come from a small tropical and really beautiful country but isnt the place for me simply because I have other ambitions. Of course I would love to go there for vacations but not for living I dont see me living in my original country

It's hard to even imagine leaving the place that I live; and have grown up in. I live in the US and I'm just SO accustomed to how everything works. I actually just returned (about a week ago) from a 2 1/2 week trip to Sweden. While it was cool to feel out of place and to learn about a new culture and imagine settling there..I was SO homesick. I couldn't leave my home country, I don't think. Or at least it would be very hard!
