Well I used to give mine frozen waffles. They where nice and cool but didn't give frost bite. They also disintegrate before they can get big chunks, plus they taste good so they want to chew on them. Also try to switch to baby Motrin. ibuprofen helps reduce swelling and is a pain reliever so it will help a little more then just Tylenol.

I know how difficult it can be when your baby is teething. Both of my kids had a tough time with teething when they were babies. One of the best things I found that works is freezing a wet washcloth. You can take it out of the freezer each time and keep re-freezing it. Just keep it in a baggie when the baby isn't using it. This provided a lot of comfort for my kids.

My son is 7 months and he's teething too. he's only entertained with his teething ring for about 2minutes it seems. Maybe a freeze pop would help. Unopened, the ones you have to freeze yourself. My son likes them sometimes we actually let him eat it but I don't think I would at 5 months.
