I've just read an article that says there are now 192 countries in the world. I was just wondering if there is at least one person from each country here on mylot. I'd like to find out.
I'm starting a list. Im listing my country against number 1. If you are from a country that has not been added to the list, please can you tell me which country and give it the next number along.
A short paragraph telling us about the country would be great too.
Number 1: England
This is a great country in terms of history. Great old buildings with plenty of interesting stories. The countryside is beautiful. The cities are bustling with activity, many are overcrowded and there is much crime there. Unemployment is high. Wages are low. People are finding it difficult to cope in the recession.

Number 3: INDIA though I don't consider my country in other FIRST place, if we are to see this number as a RANK and PLACE.
I will not add anything more now, as I might be missing the third place.
And, Jules, this is a very good idea to start talking about one's own country, and to learn about others too.

Hello Jules,
Thanks for creating such discussion like this. I love Great Britain and I've been researching and following the lives of the British royal family for 12 years now, preferably because I am fascinated with their existence.
Number 1: Philippines (this is my country)--my mother land is popularly known as Pearl of the Orient Sea because of our strategic position in the Pacific Ocean. My country is composed of more than 7,000 islands and islets and divided into three large islands: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao (I came from Mindanao), the latter being the largest. Our common problem is corruption, two of the country's President had shamefully put the country into one of the most corrupt nations in the world, but we are hoping this image will change after electing new set of national leaders this coming May 10, 2010 (hopefully). Another problem is unemployment because of lack of job opportunities. But on the bright side, my country is endowed with rich mineral resources and fine beaches. Our number one means of living here is agriculture. Our beaches are world class, some of these can even be compared to Hawaiian beaches or Caribbean beaches. We have a very simple lifestyle and people in the provinces are contented and happy with their lives as long as family is intact and healthy. We are predominantly Catholic and strictly observed feast of saints, days of obligations and solemnities in the Catholic faith.
