Since it is election time in the Philippines right now, I've seen campaigns about promises. Candidates promise that they will stop poverty through various of methods. They mentioned more jobs, education, less corruption etc etc.
I believe that all of them are important especially education. Once everyone is educated, everyone will have a job that suits their interests. People will also vote for the most competent politician because they think. Education is really important to alleviate our country from poverty. If people are educated, they will think and they will do things for their betterment.
What do you think?

Education is good for one's own benefit I believe. But the politicians are educated aren't they and yet why are they so corrupt?

lol, education doesn't solve greed i guess. Yes they are educated and they know how to get around people without getting caught. Maybe that is why they are corrupt. I think education cannot teach the morals of a person especially if millions of pesos/dollars are already in front of them.

Hi Pierella,
I'm going to be perfectly honest with this one.
Education is very important. It will change you and your life in many ways. You will learn to think in different ways, you will meet new people, become more independent and grow as an individual. I highly recommend it.
However, here is the truth. Certainly here in the UK there is a massive shortage of jobs. Many graduates leave university without a job. Some are still unemployed years later and they still have thousands of pounds of course and living fees to pay back. Don't assume that a good education means a good job. It will certainly help but there are no guarantees.
I found that spending a little time getting work experience along the way helps. It doesn't matter whether its paid or voluntary. Having experience is important. Gaining experience can also help you to make contacts and get hints as to where the jobs are opening up.
So, in relity I would like to say that education is certainly important, but it's not the only factor.

Hello Jules, I agree with you :) My country is experiencing the same thing as well. A lot of graduates are still looking for a job and are part of the unemployed work force. The thing about my country is that companies normally accept applicants who came from prestigious universities (the top 3 to be precise). Although I came from the state university, I find it unfair for others.

Indeed, education is still the best way to get out of poverty. However, we must ask ourselves as to what kind of education that will eliminate poverty. Have you ever wondered why is it that there are those who did not finished schooling and yet they are rich? The Filipino psyche when it comes to poverty is this: study hard so that you will have good grades and you would be able to study in a prominent university or at least finish college and then you can find a job in a prestigious company. Rich people on the other hand is the exact opposite: study hard, have good grades, enter college, and start a business. Don't get me wrong, having a job is good but if one is working hard for money at least make your money work hard for you. Poverty will always be here but we must educate ourselves to get out of it.

You're right. If everybody finished their education, everybody can have a decent job for a stable income. But it would really help too if the government found a way to increase jobs in the country.

I definitely think education is important. To be educated makes you think more logically and you can see truth much more clearly.

yes, education is the answer to poverty. many people can't get job because they didn't finish their schooling. but how can you go to school if you don't even have the money to feed you. students drop out of school because of poverty. many children work instead of studying. most crimes are caused of poverty. nowadays, there are many unemployed. graduates find it difficult to get a job. i think that politicians should focus more on how to give our people jobs. even those who are not able to finish their schooling should be given jobs, the government can train them and make them competitive workers. if people have job, they can send their children to school. they won't have to blame the government alone for all their misfortunes. we will have more funds for development projects, crime rate will be lessen and poverty will be gone.
