Is it unhealthy to bathe a lot?

Hi friends! I just want to know if taking a bath a lot is unhealthy for us. Let's say the weather is too hot, so the tendency is for us to bathe a lot, maybe about three to four times a day. Some people said that taking a bath too often will make our skin dry. So what is your thoughts about this? Is it unhealthy to bathe a lot? I would be glad to hear from you. Have a great day! :)

I also usually take a shower about two times a day but it is just because I don't have the opprtunity to do it more often and not because I think it is not healthy or something.

Of course not, I bathe for at least 3-5 times a day during summerand for ordinary season I will at least twice no less for that. Its refreshing feeling to bathe and make me feel good and relax. After bath you need to put on lotion and use luke warm water not hot since it cause dryness to skin.Happy myLotting! Ah by the way its healthier to bathe more than no bath at all!lol

Hi cloud31! I have noticed that you really like to keep yourself clean and healthy all the time, and that's really a good habit of yours. Thank you for sharing your experience so I know now that it's not really unhealthy to bathe a lot. But I should always put lotion after, and that's what I didn't do sometimes. Yes, I prefer water from the faucet and not a warm or boiled one. Thank you for responding and have a healthy day! :)

i really really hope by "bathe" you mean shower mostly. If you re talking about long baths you re a "disaster" to our planet wasting that much water :) To the op the treated water that gets to our homes has some components in it that dry out the skin indeed but that doesn t mean we should avoid showers. It s not that bad plus with abit of a lotion after that you ll get over it. Ofc do not exagerate since everything in excess is not good :)

Bathing is never unhealthy but with dirty water of course. Also, bath salts open the pores, purifying the skin and making it smooth as silk. Your dry skin can get moister through a bath, and insect bites, eczema and athlete’s foot can all melt away after you start a bathing ritual. Calluses on your feet will get softer as the bath salts circulate around you, not only cleansing you but also healing you. Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?

It is a common belief that quite a lot of washing makes you unhealthy....not sure of the verity of this statement.

I've never heard of anything about unhealthy bathing, I only know it's unhealthy if you don't bathe. Unless maybe if you used too much soap. Okay, okay, there are certain soaps that tend to make our skin feel rather dry, so choosing which soap/lotion is important. Bathing below 5 times a day should be fine, and if you are not soaking yourself in for a long time, I think there shouldn't be any problem. The only very visible problem I can see is the usuage of water hahahaha.

Hi ongtina! Ok, the choice of soap matters. Thanks for that. Yes, as long as we can pay for our water consumption, there will be no problem. Lol! Thank you for responding and have a great day! :)

I think bathing a lot is not bad as long as your body is not tired.. it only gets bad if you take a bath with tired body.. and your skin will just get dry if your soap is not mild.. i suggest you use soap that has a moisturizer like dove or oil of olay and after bathing apply lotion.. =) i hope my tips help you.. =)

Hi rj! Yes, I also believe that it's bad to bathe when we are still tired or just came from work. We better take a rest first. Ok thank you for your advice about the type of soap and the use of lotion after bathing. Thank you for responding and have a great day! :)

I wouldn't imagine it would be unhealthy but then again I really don't know. I shower or bathe every single day at least once and sometimes twice depending on what I'm doing. I guess it would depend on what you use for bath products. soap is drying and i think to much of it would maybe dry out the skin. I use oils as well as soap when I bathe. baby products are the best. If they are good enough for a baby then you can assure that they are gentle for you as well.

hio harold You sound like you are in a tropical climate and no I do not think taking a number of baths in one day is unhealthy as long as you use a body lotion to rehydrate your skin, I know I would be covered with sweat too in a hot clime and opt for more showers than usual too. I have dry skin so I bathe with moisturizing body wash then slather on body lotion on arms and legs to preventdry irritated skin.

Hi hatley! Yes, I'm from a tropical place. So you are saying that we should always do a habit that after taking a bath, we should apply a lotion to our skin. That's nice! Thank you for responding and have a great day! :)

I assume with the word bathe you mean shower. Of course it is not unhealthy to shower as often as you want to. After all, it is for yourself, and for your hygiene. What would be very embarrasing and not hygienic at all is when you do not shower even at least once a day. I only shower atmost twice a day. I can shower as many times as I could, but I am worried of the electricity bill! However, if there is an extreme need that I need to shower more than twice a day, then I would, but only when extreme necessity arises. If I shower unnecessarily, I am thinking of how much water would be wasted. There are some parts in the world that do not have enough supply of water. I think for my part it is my responsibility to conserve in whatever way I can conserve. We will only realize how important one thing is when it has become scarce already. I do not want to wake up one day and realizing that water is one of the most scarce commodity already.

Hi chrissa808! I'm not just referring to shower alone, but all types of bath. Yes, we should only bathe more than usual on those days that the weather is too hot that we really need to refresh our body more often. We don't want to waste water in an inappropriate ways. Thank you for responding and have a great day! :)

Who says so??@!! Here in this summer heat we need to bathe at l;east 2 times a day - morning and evening- to get rid of the perspiration and also get refreshed, and I bathe the moment I reach home every time I return home after stepping out of the house that is if I am away for more than say 1 hour. I can't stand the perspiration and heat - and i have been doing this for over 30 years during the summers here. So at times I may be bathing maybe 4-5 times a day!!!

Hi udayrao2! Yes, it's really hard to stand the heat. It's just so uncomfortable. And bathing is a way to refresh our body and to temporarily ease the heat. It's really normal to bathe 3-4 times a day during this hot weather. Thank you for responding and have a great day! :)

Yes it can be and I've learned that by my own. Once in a very hot summer I used to take a shower 4-5 times per day using the shower gel I usually use. My skin started itching badly. I went to the doctor and she told me that's because I bath too often and wash away the protective stratum that the skin makes. She told me if I want to take a shower so often to use shower gel only once or twice per day. So maybe not exactly taking a shower often, but using too much chemistry is bad.

i don't think so.. for me it's just good hygienic habit.. it just cleanse your body.. it depends on your soap if your skin will be dry, try using soap with skin moisturizer surely you'll get rid of the problem of skin dryness.. :)

I have not read anywhere yet that states bathing or taking shower several time a day is unhealthy. Infact ones feel fresh and light after taking shower.

Hi, Harold_ks. I think that if a person bathes more than twice a day and if they scrub very hard then it can make their skin unhealthy. But just washing up twice a day should not cause any problems, just as long as they don't take a hot steaming bath or shower. And also scrubbing has to be out of the equation too.

I don't think so. I had rather people over bathe than not bathe enough. I think u should always use lotions or moistirizers after u bathe anytime. My skin has a tendency to be dry so that's what i do every time i bathe.

i dont think it is unhealthy to bath even 10 times a day. ya it can effect your skin a little bit. but its summer in my country and i bath 3 times a day. its not hurting me. but if in winter i bath 6 times a day it will effect my skin adversely so listen to what your body and do what it wants you to do. dont listen to all the doctors and other people.

hell0! I guess it is-no matter whatseason we have, just because the more we bathe, the more dry our skin becomes, and this is really something what i can say that it is really unhealthy, because when we bathe the fat on our skin falls and there is not that much protection for it! so that's why max. 2 times per day is enough and still healthy!

interesting question, haha! i dont know really, because i bathe once or twice (or even thrice) a day depending on how sticky i feel. i dont think it is unhealthy to be hygienic. now when it comes to causing dryness, maybe you shouldn't use scalding hot water. the products you use too might also contribute to the dryness. sometimes, i just hit the shower just to cool myself without getting myself ultra-squeaky clean (you know, soaping and scrubbing). if ever you come across an article mentioning about over-bathing as unhealthy, please do share!
