Can bad luck actually be good?

They say things happen for a reason and I truely believe that. Say you miss a flight because traffic being so slow then you find out that your plane you missed crashes? Or how about this one... your vehicle doesn't start or you have a flat tire then you find out the actual time you were scheduled to leave and drive, there was an accident on the highway?
Is this actually a calling and someone is looking over you?
What are your thoughts?

I believe that too. Since i have experienced with something like that several times before. After those experienced, my mindset has totally changed. I see anything from a positive aspect. There must be a lessons in that happens in every event that happen in my life.

this is so phylosophycall:) Indeed the theme of: is there a "destiny" or it s all just a long line of coincidences was and is the subject of many discussions these days. It s good that you ask for thoughts since nobody could say something for sure:) I want to beleive that there is something else than coincidences but it s just something i want, i cannot prove anything :)

Hi drkraven: I understand your point of view. We can not prove that there's a reason why things happend but I still beleive that there is always a reason. At least I'm searching for a reason why things happend and that's possitive because, instead of complaining I'll always be doing something to make bad things good things or at least they'll become knowledge. On the other hand, it makes that I thanked god for the bad things that doesn't touch me. Thanks for your answer.

I believe things do happen for a reason. I believe in fate and Karma. I think everything is intertwined and happens because it is supposed to in some finer scheme of things. I think that other peoples Karma has kept me from going nuts several times. I believe these things to be real and forecoming.

If it happens for the good i think what you say is apt. What if you missed a flight and missed out on a good opportunity.Similarly you had a flat tire and were late for an appointment.I feel it goes both ways at times good for us at times to our disadvantage.

Hi,
I am gonna bypass the lofty personal theories here. I will just try to be simple here. I think that every single thing that we face in real world has both a bad and a good side. Nothing can be entirely devoid of either good or bad. In order to exist, it should have both the properties. What we should do is to accept both of it, but only take the positive of it. This is recommended because if we continuously let the darker side influence our mind, it will someday change our entire attitude to extreme pessimism and hopelessness. Now that would be quite an unfortunate way to live one's life. I personally don't believe in anything as a bad luck or a good luck. The difference is not in the situations we face, the discrimination is in our own perspectives. Events are indifferent, we impose certain characteristics upon them, which is not fair at all, and it is rather an attempt to evade responsibilities. Thanks
God bless you

That is something that happened to me and my mom. It was a week before the world trade centre had it's disaster and she was suppose to go to New York with my aunt and I told her straight out that I had a really bad feeling and for her not to go. My aunt ended up not going because she couldn't get her holidays for work and they didn't go but I'm glad of that.
Thanks for your reply

Maybe..sometimes what seem to be misfortunes turn to factors that actually save you...a blessing in disguise.

oh yes.i got a disgustingly high power bill years ago,and my brother and i had to pay it instead of going to a concert at a local club or face shut off.
the show we missed was the great white concert where over 100 people were killed/injured.

my bad luck is usually good luck for other people. this happens to me on a regular basis. the more happy everyone is, the more miserable i get. it's like i am there to deflect bad luck of people who supposed to have nothing but good luck

I sure do! A lot of bad luck has happened to me in my life...and one day I realized how it's actually changed my life for the better. I mean, let's say you lose your job-then you get to thinking how much you hated that job anyways-and it inspires you to start your own business and you make better money or are happier than you were in your old job. I heard about a guy who had an accident where a pipe ran through his brain..he recovered fully except for some minor scars and then realized he'd been living the wrong way. That unfortunate accident caused him to rethink his life. Awesome!

Even though I am thankful I have a job that is good paying and benefits I still don't feel that my life is complete. I am going back to school to further myself because I don't want to be doing what I'm doing forever.
You have a really good point here and thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this discussion!

Hi nixxi.I just want to say that if god close a door for you he will surely open a window for you. There are not something absolutely ,so the other side of bad luck is good luck. When come across bad luck ,don't complain, hurry up,find the window that god open for you.

there are times when we don't get what we want but then it turns out that what we get is what we need (hey reminds me of the song). yes i believe things happen for a reason. we often don't understand why but there is a higher power that's working for our good.

some times what is bad luck turns out to be good. My friend was telling an incident which took place. He was working in a place where timings we.re maintained very strictly. One day he missed the bus and went to office very late due to various reasons which he chose not to elaborate. He was not only blamed but severely punished by cutting a day's salary. Do you know he was happy about it because the bus which he was supposed to take met with an accident and several people in the bus got severe injuries. Though he lost a day's salary he saved his life. How do you look at this?

Years ago a miss a flight, I was rather upset about it however I was able to catch the connecting flight and arrived on schedule, picked up my rental car and about 2 hours later I was in the hospital for 2 weeks because I ended up having an accident. In a way somebody was telling me something since up to the day of the flight I felt odd about taking the trip. Since then I'm more careful and little to my gut feeling more often.

Hi nixxi: For me it's God's decition that is present in even the things we call casualty and even if you don't beleive in God I think we must admit that there's a presence, you can call it destiny, natural order, whatever but it exists and if after living a situation like this, this would make me respect my life and the things I should do for a better living even more. Thanks for starting this discussion.
