Having fun with menopausal symptoms

May 4, 2010 2:32pm CST
I went through a quite cold winter here in the U.K. not exactly suffering from Hot flushes, more simply enjoying the fact that my own personal heating system had risen slightly. That is nothing to the fun I am having suffering from general madness and forgetfullness. The other week I caught my 12 year old son taking his PSP to school, I took it off him and then hid it away. After a couple of days my husband asked my son where the PSP was, neither he nor I remembered me hiding it. I remembered taking it off him and the fact that he had tried to take it to school. As my son is 12 and has problems with raging hormones himself he could only remember me taking it off him, the poor child thought he had lost it at school, me with my wonderful memory thought he had lost it. The amount of trouble he got into from his dad and myself wasn't too terrible thank god, as it was just before Easter, it was mainly no computer, no toys, no telly and definetely no chocolate. After three days of my son behaving himself so well I was having trouble recognising him, my husband went and found the PSP. I laughed so much, what else could I do, even while I was apologising to my son, thank god he laughed as well and so did my husband. I can have so much fun now, forgetting all about where I put a childs pocket money, phone, sweets. Then I sneak back later and eat too much chocolate. It is the hormones I tell you.

I had all that fun about 10 years back and never really got back to 'normal' - whatever that is Now, due to medication I've been given, I'm getting a second run at it

As you say wizzywig, normal, whatever that is. I feel sorry for my poor husband, he has seen me through a depression which lasted far to long due to doctors and their medication. I find a sense of humour to be worth a whole lot more than any amount of tablets. My busband and children must have the best senses of humour on the planet to be able to put up with the insane mother and wife that they have. LOL

Hi Moondance61, You are not alone in your madness. I'm her too. Many of my friends are also in a memory free, overheated, confusing world. Most of the time we don't mind. It's only when you feel as though something warm is travelling so fast from your toes to the top of your head and steam is blowing out through your ears that it gets uncomfortable. The best thing to do is sit down, put your feet up and, if anyone reminds you that you should be working, tell them you forgot. Make a start on the job and as soon as they disappear forget again. Let the madness rule.

oh how funny moondancer you got some fun from those darned menopausal symptoms thats a lot better than grousing about them Like I used to sometimes when I had the hot flashes and sweat poured down my face. 'I am glad your son and your husband laughed about all of this. good for them. Yes of course its the hormone. you just cheered up my sort'of dull and boring mother's day. he he.
