Did You Start Working Online Thinking You Would Be Able To Work Less?

Was that one of the main reasons you started working online, so that you would have more free time? Me too. Hasn't happened yet. I love when people ask me what I do...I say freelance writer/internet marketer and their eyes get wide and they say "Wow, bet you hardly ever work" and then they try and monopolize your time. I work more hours per day than I have ever worked in my life, and it isn't just 5 days a week either. True, if I need to do something during the day I can just take off and do it (we won't even talk about the separation anxiety I go through...computer withdrawals) but don't ever get into working for yourself online and thinking it is going to be cushy. I love these products and systems that say "you will never work more than a half-hour a day and generate an income for life"...uh huh. I spend more than 30 minutes a day just trying to figure out where to start sometimes. But, you either do the time or get a JOB...I'll do the time and eventually I will be to the point where I can take a vacation.

It is nice to meet a fellow hard working online earner I have been building my online income for 10 years...and I still work hard daily...sure I make a lot more passive income than I did when I first started out. But, there are hours of hand on projects that I am involved with daily...I do try to save evenings & weekends for family. But, I usually find time to sneak on for short amounts of time

I would love to hear about what you are actually doing. Have you found some thing that pays better than all the rest?

I'd like to ask, you are working online, with what? Are you working with online jobs or are you building an online business? Online job, and online business, are two different things. In online jobs, work stop income stop. In online business, work stop income continue.

Basically, I am a freelance writer/internet marketer. Let's see what I have got going on right now, I do writing for a few different companies, affiliate marketing, do copywriting for different websites, do question answering for a few companies, and then whatever else comes along that I can make money at. Okay, got tired just writing it...know why I am exhausted now :)

the main reason why i work online is because i will back soon in a review center and a full time job does not suit me,i can handle my schedule and can choose when to day off, working online is fun it's like working in real office the difference is you dont have office mates, no benefits you will just rely on what your client pay for.

Very true but for me my main reason for working online is to avoid being confined in an office environment 8 hours a day. True, that working requires a lot of time especially if you are new. Marketing and research are the two things I learned to earn online. Why not try to have micro niche sites that require less maintenance and time.

Oh this is so true! The separation anxiety and computer withdrawls are soooo soooo true. It takes alot of dedication to earn money online and people don't realize that. My family & friends just think that I can just do anything at anytime and not be worried about it. Which in some aspects I can stop what I am doing but it also means that once I get back offers might be gone or filled for the day and I have missed out on them. My fiance gets so mad at me because I want to spend all of my free time on the computer. LOL! We all feel what you are saying!

My idea of making money online wasn't to work less, as I never thought about that. I just thought about the fact that at the time I stared doing things online, that I needed all the money I could get my hands on. It had been a struggle up until March of this year, as that is when I had received money from a reverse mortgage, which was able to get rid of my mortgage all together, and pay off my credit cards, which were almost maxed out. It feels good to have them paid off, and I don't intend to get them that way again. Anyway, before that time, I was struggling trying to pay my bills, as I had to pay out more than what was coming in, Now, things are just the opposite, and even though I really don't need it like I did before, I just can't stop trying to make something, even if it isn't all that much. It all adds up in the end, and money is money anyway. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

I started working online too so that I could have more time for myself, but right now I'm still having a hard time figuring out how best to earn online because most of the opportunities I see are about writing and I don't want to write. I think it's true that if you work for yourself you won't really have shorter working hours, but I think it's a good thing because that means you are working because you like to work, whereas in an office some people just stay because they have to stay. Well, I suppose insufficient income is also one of the reasons why people who do home-based jobs work long hours, but I think this is not the usual case because most of the time those people who don't earn enough online just go get a real job.

AS far as I am concerned, I think I am working online for a long time just want to save some extra money in my daily life. What is more, I still want to have a part time jobb online, which can help me earn some money online, too. So I usually try my bes tto stay online ,in case that I can find more good news to make money online. In this way, I think I would be able to work less in my reality life and more time online.I enjoy it so much. So I may put some good news in my profile which I think can help me ,even can make some help to you to earn money. Want to see more, just have a check to my profile. Have a nice day here.

Yes, I think most people have that idea (I personally do not), because they hear these scam stories of people who did something very simple and earned a lot of money. But that is not how it works in real life, and not everyone gets that! I think it is very challenging to work online, especially in the beginning, but maybe it gets easier after a while?
