Do you read before you respond?

I like to read the discussion. I sometimes even reread it so I understand it. I'll even sometimes read the other responses before I respond as I don't want to sound like I copied someone else's answer.
I don't know, maybe I'm silly or old fashioned but I think if you want to have a meaningful conversation you need to know what it is you're talking about. That's like when I'm trying to talk to a friend and she's so busy talking that she's not hearing what I'm saying and she'll say "yeah..." to something that wasn't a question, and then she'll keep on talking about something else. It feels like a waste of time and energy.
Do you get responses often where people just aren't reading the discussion?

Oh yes. I've seen a lot of discussions where the title made me think it was one thing and then it ended up being about something else. If you don't read the whole thing, you can come out sounding like an idiot. I guess some people are just in a hurry to put out a response and get their money. But I think that's silly. I'd rather know what I'm talking about before spouting off my opinions.

how will you know the main reason if you did not read the content of the post, thought theres some members who make a question like title and yet their content is far different and they also leave another question, so t turned out that you dont know which one to answer if the title or the question of the content. a friend of mine used to tell me about that case before and we were laughing about it as the onwer of the post is the one who got angry for in fact the title and the content did not even collaborate. he must at least know what title to post and the content must be based on the title if he wanted a straight answer.

Nah, I never read it, because its always the same crap, you wont miss a thing when responding to someones discussion without reading it, I mean just answer it any old way. Because all the discussions are completely the same. By the way did you hear about Washington DC being attacked by aliens this morning? Nothing left of the city. Nope I read nothing I swear if I had to read through about 500 new discussions when I come in here it would all look alike don't you think?
By the way what was the question?

There are days when I wonder if the discussion starters actually read all the responses. Just such a shame if they were to miss anything really good.

If you don't read them, how do you know what you are responding to? Even if it's your own response, you need to know what you have already mentioned.
So yes, I read my own posts and responses. And I also read others responses to the discussion I have started.

Hi zralte: I completely agree with you, it's not logical to make an opinion about a subject without even read the whole question. Maybe some people want to make things as faster as possible but they should remember that it's not all about the number of responses we made but the quality of them. Thanks for your answer.

for me,,,i will read first whatever it is before i respond because how can you respond if you don't know what you are going to respond...........it very helpful to a person if he/she reads first....

hi java I really think from some of the responses I have received on one or two of my discussions some people do not read the discussion just the title and sometimes the title is not much help. of course I read all the discussion before responding as how else could I make an intelligent response to it? How can I read my own response before putting it down on here as I work from my brain, not a piece of paper? I check it out thoroughly before posting it to be sure it says what I wanted to say and all the spelling is right.,Of course these things are important if you really want to earn while having fun here.

Hi Hately,
The title of the discussion can fool you, that's why it's better to read.Alot of people here just read the title and post something, when it's not even about the title.Sometimes people don't know what title to make,so it's a title that isn't what the discussions even about. It pays to read.

Yeah i read. But there are discussions that i can't understand. Sometimes i just leave them be and sometimes i try to respond with a question to clear everything up to me.

As for me, I read before I answer in discussions. It is true that I encounter lots of people who are not reading discussions and just answers it. I could understand if they can't read others' responses which will result in redundancy but it is so annoying if you can't even read the thread and understand it properly but anyways, we have our own free will here so just let them do what they want and let's be happy

Yes I do read. But then there are times I just pick up keywords and from there I am able to understand what the topic is all about. Sometimes I go over the responses on the discussion and pick up keywords from there as well.
