I got this in my email a few minutes ago from the United States Humane Society National Trail Ride to Help Horses On June 13, equestrians across the country will saddle up to participate in a national network of trail rides with the goal of raising awareness - and funds - for rescued horses. The ride is the result of a unique collaboration between the American Competitive Trail Ride Association (ACTHA) and The HSUS Equine Protection Department. All of the funds raised will go towards programs to assist at-risk horses. If you are an equestrian, please consider participating in a ride or tell a friend about it. Let's make this event a success! Thanks for all you do for animals. Wayne Pacelle If you would like to saddle up for the trail ride to save the horses or if you would rather give some money to help give them a a click a the Humane Society of the United States. This is to help keep the slaughter pf many of horses from happening. Please please help in any way that you can. I love horses and if I could still ride I would. I will donate money this time to help. I have a couple of friends that adopted a couple of them and gave them a home of their farm. I am not able to do this either because of my health. I wish I could. Are you going to ride for the horses? Or do you think you will donate money to help them? I will donate money to help them since I can't ride any more. Thank you for your responses.

I love horses, I think they are amazing animals. Going on that big trail ride would be really fun, but I don't have a horse to participate in it. I'm all for rescuing horses, so when I get my animal sanctuary started, they will be one of the species I will be rescuing. Thanks for sharing this story!

Hello Lily, I hope you get that sanctuary up and going as soon as you can. You let me know when you do and I'll send you a small donation, trust me dear it will be small too, as I don't have much to go around but I'll be glad to help you with your horses. I will be glad to help forward any letters to anyone I know though. You know if I did not have so many deer that come on my property to graze then I'd fence mine off and have a couple of horses. I think I could handle a couple and I'd love so much to have them. They would be great therapy for me!

That is extremely kind of you moondancer! I'm sure every charity says this, but it doesn't make it any less true--ANY amount donation is helpful and appreciated! And your offer to help spread the word is very sweet too! Maybe you could just fence off a portion of your land, add a little one or two stall barn for the horse(s) too. There could still be room for the deer to visit Of course...I don't know how much land you have so I can't really say that can I? lol Thank you!

this sounds like something really good to get behind, mum saved a horse from the doggers last yr. bro's ex didn't care if he went to the dogs. we also have a pretty good idea that he wa abused. but yeterday i had a big break through with him. i was able to catch him out in the big paddock and saddled him up, in the open as well. last time i tried that he broke my bit of string pulling back. if i was there i'd either ride of give a donation.

That is fantastic that you saved a horse from becoming dog food. No horse deserves that. Thank you, thank you for him...that you saved him from that!!!!! He is a good horse and has so much to give you in return for his life. Since he was abused it will take him awhile for him to trust you and to know that you are not going to hurt him. I sincerely hope that you are spending time with him and talking to him, caressing him, loving on him, and just letting him know that he is so special! Thank you for saving him! Yes, I'd rather ride too. But for now I must give money. It is nice to ride for these things, but lets be honest. It's the money they really need!

we're not ones to let animals go for meat unless they have to. even lambs, we don't let die unless they have to. i'm working on buddy, he's coming round slowly but has needed a bit of heavy handling, to get him to respect me and it seems to of helped. making what i'm trying to to easier.

I wish I had the extra money to donate, but I don't... all of it goes to our cat rescue I wish I could ride or donate, but... well, the cats will eat us in our sleep if they don't have their food!

Elic, don't worry about it hun...you are doing a good thing! The cats have needs too! I commend you and your family for what YOU ARE DOING! Trust me when I say I know this is a huge under taking that you have put on yourselves and your family. If you need someone to help pass on the word to others about you and what you do then send me a news letter, I'll be glad to pass it on to others so it can go on the super web highway! Do you get donations from stores? If not ask them. You have to put it in writing and some times it can take up to a year to get the stuff but you will get it. The reason it takes a year is it's corporate and it has to go through channels and meetings. But they will donate. Talk to your local Unions, and get a list from the Better Business Bureau of the businesses on it. Try to get on that list...become a member. Then you will get more help from the people there. The local shelter will sometimes help you in getting spay and neutering for the ones that need it, for free. That is enough to get you started for now. I hope. lol Oh, one more thing...put out feelers for foster homes until you have room for the babies to come back or you find a home for them. Most times the people get attached to them and decide to keep them after fostering them. The best of luck and wishes to you and all of your little ones dear!!!!!!!

well, we need to get to be "official" before we can ask for donations - and we kind of got into this by fostering a couple of cats... now we are a rescue!

I tell you what you can do Hatley, I can not give much money either. I don't have much but I'll send you the email I got and you can forward it to other and help in that way. They will forward it to others and then others. Others will get it, many will get it and many will give all because you and I forwarded it. That will be our contribution, okay? I know you need your money dear. We all do what we can in ways that we can to help what things we can. Giving is giving, no matter how we give...it's helping! Besides a dollar goes a long way and email that gets many more dollars goes a whole lot farther.

Unfortunately I will not be able to ride. We had to have our horse put down Easter weekend, but this was not unexpected as he was 28 years old. As far as donating I give to a local group that takes in rescues for the humane society. So probably will not give to the national cause but will keep the money at home to help local rescues. But will consider giving a little extra to them in support of this ride.

Oh sleepy I'm so sorry that you had to put your baby to sleep. My condolences to you and your family. I'm glad that you have an organization close to you that you can be involved in. This is also in every state so what you do will be going to your state and their needs. Take care and keep loving the horses.

Hi Gabs, I love horses so much. I'm sure that when you are able to, or me that they will be glad to get what we can give for the help they need for these horse. I have found from working in a humane society that every little bit does help. It's added with a little more from someone else, so forth and so on and more can be done to save these majestic creatures from being slaughtered. Thank you so much.

hello trilliaire, it's nice to see you. Yes, I so much love horses. They are truly a majestic and lovely animal. I have had many in my lifetime. They are as loyal and loving as any animal can be. Which says a lot, because they are so loving and loyal as well as very smart.
