Well, as we all know, Mother's Day is this weekend in the United States. I've seen a lot of people talking about what they will do to make their mother's feel special for mother's day.
I, however, would love to talk about those things that your mother does that makes her so special to you.
Of course, I'll start. . . My mother was widowed at a young age with three children to raise. She did what she had to do to make sure that all three of us were able to complete school and go to college as well. This meant that after spending 15 years as a stay at home mother she went back into the work force and worked long hours to help us to fulfill our goals. She is a best friend to all of us and she would give us the shirt off of her back if we needed it. My mother is one of the most selfless people that I know and those are just a few of the reasons that I am so lucky to have her as a mother.

Hi Doran,
I already started my tribute to mom since Saturday. I made a shoutout for mom via my facebook account. I even posted our picture together: This is my shout out: “Mama Elena Resuena Ventajar vda. de Sumayao, thanks for bringing out the best in me. “ I love you and happy mother's day! I will always be proud to be your daughter”. Mom is already a widow and we are trying our best to make up for dad's lose. We continue to give her strength and inspiration to go on with life.

My mother is very special to me because she's everything to us. She is our Nurse at home when we are sick. She is our Cook. She cleans the house. She is our teacher and tutor. She is our advisor. She is also our clown. She is funny and makes us laugh. My Mom is also our accountant. She does the budgeting at home and makes sure all bills are paid, we have enough money for our basic needs and then extra for some luxuries. I sometimes even think she is a magician. No matter how tight the budget is she is able to make it enough for five of us- father, mom and three chidren and there is always an extra.
My Mom is also a fighter. She is a very strong woman. She never gives up in times of problems. She is my father's strength and our strenght. She is also vey optimistic. She believes that every problem has a solution. She loves us unconditionally. Like your Mom she is also selfless. She prioritizes our needs over hers.
My mother is very special to me because from her I learned how to be the "Greatest Mother" I could ever be!

I especially love your last sentence that you've written because I feel the exact same way about my mother. I don't think that I would be the mother that I am without having the influence that I got from my own mother.

I look a lot like my mother. Although we are more like the opposite of each other, and we do not always agree in our opinion, in our family, it is I who gets to be associated more with my mother because a lot of people sees similarities in our physical attributes.
I love my mother. She had sacrificed a lot for us. Although I am not her favorite daughter, I still love her and that will never ever change.
I intend to stay by her side and take care of her and make sure she is always happy and healthy.

I hope to always be able to stay by my mother's side as well. She is a great person and though I know that she loves us all, I also believe that I wasn't her favorite child.

The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world!.
I simply defined my Mom as a SUPERWOMAN. If ever I'm on my deepest times, she always lift me up. Her motto is: No Guts, No Glory. She is the wind beneath my wings, my inspiration.

Maybe most of you guys live with in your own family now, i mean all of your families are live together in a house. But i am now far away from home and working in another city, i guess what i can do for my mom on the Mother's Day is give her a call and tell her i miss her. Besides, live a better life and be happy, which i know she surely wish me to do so. I loved my mother.

She is one who lighten my life and take out me from darkness. Every body knows that how much the mother is important in our life and we shouldn't lead our mom feel sad because of us.

In a way I'm thankful for both of my mothers. Bio mom was truly too selfish to raise children, didn't pay enough attention to me, and gave me too many freedoms as I got older. Foster mom was the opposite, she was loving and protective when I was younger, but that turned into strictness as I got older. That was difficult in teen years when I desperately wanted a social life but wasn't allowed to hang out with my friends because foster mom thought they were bad influences on me. Turns out bio mom was really the only bad influence in my life.
But either way, I got something good from both of them. They both molded me into the person I am today. I wouldn't be alive without either of them.. bio mom gave me life but foster mom was the one who kept me alive until I was old enough to fend for myself.
Unfortunately my foster mom is no longer with us, but my bio mom is.. I'll probably get her a card or something, not sure yet.

It is really nice that you are able to say positive things about both of your mothers right now in your life. I'm sorry that you had to go through the strictness when you were younger, but without that happening in your life you probably wouldn't be the woman that you are today.

My mom was a stay at home mom - and let me tell you I appreciate her even moreso now because I am a mom myself. If I need someone to watch my kids, she is the first person (besides hubby) that I trust with my kids. As you said, my mother would also give us the shirt off her back if we needed it. When my mom was raising us, she didn't have her mom as we do (her mother passed away when she was only 9) - nor did she ask the help of any of her family members or friends - she truly did things on her own. My dad was too manly to do domestic chores if you know what I mean - so she even did all the house stuff on her own (whereas I get A LOT of help from my hubby). She really went through a lot in her marriage (that's another story) and life . . . and in a weird way, I learned from her mistakes (in which I wish she didn't have to go through). But she is happy now and a great grandma to the kids. And I love her lots!
Have a great Mother's Day, dorannmwin!

Yeah, as far as I am concerned, I do think that the mother is the greatest person in the world, who has raised their children with their selfless heart . For me I think I love my mother so much. They have help me a lot on the way to growing up. I must say thank to my mother. Without her, I think my life will be so poor and may not just sit in front of the computer yet.

Everyone is so lucky to have a mother and i am one of the luckiest person and a mother too...I consider my mother so special even if she did'nt raised me. I have seen her as a working mother who helps my father in the farm as well as to take care to my other siblings.Until now she works hard just to provide food for my sick father. She sells fruit, vegetables, harvested corn or anything she can find in the farm...This mother's day, i wish that she will have a healthy atmosphere and that i will be able to tell her how much I love her....

My mom is a kind and virtuous womam in chinese traditional notion. My father was a man who valued the male child only ,which existed in many chinese family notion at that time. And my mather procreated two girls me and my little sister, which was not liked much by my father.Howerever,my mother was not give up her doughters, instead she worked hard to foster us and afford the education.I and my sister understand her great expectation deeply to us,and We try our best to do not let her down. Finally,by our hard word,We get bachelor and master degree separately which is proud to my family, and my father have changed his mind graduately,he likes girls as the same with boys now.
In the coming of Mother's Day, i thank my mother sincerely,i give my best wishes to her!I wish her safety, healthy and happy!

dorannmwin,
I am happy for both your mother and you.
My mother has already passed away but I will never forget about her. She is really a world to me when our dad went separate ways. I could just see her grit her teeth and took everything on her shoulders to raise my sister and me.
It was really though going on 2 jobs to make ends meet and still would be that loving parent when we can have time together as a family. I miss all her recipes, cooking tips, gags, jokes and her sense of humor.
I really liked and enjoyed the times and I hoped that the rest of the world would cherish their mothers. So, to all the mothers here, it is not about how much you've done or achieved but how much are you doing with the opportunity. Happy Mother's Day.
Take care.

Sometimes I have to really wonder about which lessons from my mother are the best lessons that I've ever learned. Would it be the selflessness or how to cook and be a good mother? I honestly don't know because to me it is all equally valuable.

Sadly my mother has long since passed away.
But she was what I would call a 'real' mother.
She was selfless and though only of her family above herself, she brought us up to be honest, hard working, God fearing people.
Our (UK) Mother's Day is in March, and although it's 20 years since I lost my mum I still think of her every year on Mother's Day and wish that she was still here.

I too hope that your mother will be able to find another job. Our family went through a very difficult period after my grandmother passed away because it was difficult for my mother to be able to work during that period. I will send out my prayers to your family.
