Check with local hospitals, nursing homes and such. They can always use volunteer help.

LOTS! One in particular is if you know how to do basic crochet you could make infant and premie blankets for your local hospital maternity ward, children's hospital, etc. Do a search on the web for Shriner's Hospital. There are crochet groups on the web that can help with that. Also, many communities have what is called a CAPS program which is an acronym for Child Advocate Program Services. This is an EXCELLENT way to get involved on a voluntary level.

There are volunteer opportunities everywhere. Look into Habitat for Humanity or your local soup kitchen or the Red Cross or Salvation Army. One that I really like is a group called Americorps.
