argggghhhh....it seems that my weight problem has become a real eternal issue. i am one of those who have to work hard to maintain their weight. i need to discipline my eating habits and to make physical exercise a big part of my regimen. You see, although i have lots of physical work, i just get tired and don't seem to burn fat at all. if any i just exhaust myself. i really wonder why. i eat because i get hungry from all the work that i do. but instead of losing weight because of my physical exertion, i just gain some more. Now, i have reached 120 lbs. my highest so far now that i am not pregnant. imagine that on a woman who stands below 5 feet tall. that means i am now very rounded. argggghhh...
it is making me depressed because with the weight gain, my knees and back hurt. it is really bad and i need to do something about this,
of course i know what to do. the problem is doing it. cmon get that behind off the chair!!!!
how about you? do you also have weight problems????

Stress can sometimes trigger obesity. I learned that from a seminar I attended sometime ago. The tendency of the body to store more fats in the body is increased when it experiences stresses in life. That was because of the primordial genes we inherited from our forefathers. During those times we were programmed to hunt for food, we were designed to hunt for food so our body stores more fats in our body to be able to compensate with the stress of hunting and everything. But now that we are in the modern times and we have many things that is way too comfortable with our lives. That gene has not evolve in time and still function as it is long time ago. When our body feels stressed it automatically switches to store fats and would trigger hunger in us so that you would take in more food to store more fats.
To counter this it would usually take you to exert more physical activities like exercise and lessen your food intake. Although this is contrary to what your body ask you to do but we should do this to maintain a healthy weight that our body really needs. When we feel hungry after a stressful day we should minimized eating a lot and if we could exercise some more then I think the better.

Hi spoiled311,
Can I suggest you do what you normally do and keep a diary for a week as well.
You need to record when you eat, what you eat, your thoughts about why you eat and your mood.
After 1 week look for patterns. Are you eating 'bad food'? Is it at certain times? Is it when you feel down about something? Work out where the problems are.
Then you can look to make changes. If you are binging on certain foods then stop buying them. Repalace them with healthier options.
Are you eating 5 fruit & veg a day? If you aren't eating any, try 1 per day. If your're eating 2 per day, go for three.
Re exercise, it seems that you're beating yourself to exhaustion rather then exercising for fitness. try making exercise part of your everyday regime. Instead of short car journeys, walk. Exercise in short bursts but do it regularly.
I hope that helps.

Hi there
I can totally sympathise with you on weight issues, I have struggled all my life.
I have now found the best way to tackle it is
1} throw away the scales, this is just depressing and tends to make you obsessed with weighing.
2}If you're not into exercise in a big way, there are ways of getting some without going over the top;
a.Always take the stairs instead of a lift or escalator
b.Leave the car at home for short journeys, use your feet instead saving both money and the planet at the same time!!
c.If you have stairs at home try to use them as much as possivble, don't 'leave something until the next time you go' take it NOW
d.If you have kids , dance around with them and have fun or kick a ball around in the park
3} Don't think of yourself as 'on a diet', eat three good meals a day with all the food groups in, but cut down on fat where you can - I find that cutting down on red meat helps - sticking mainly to fish and poultry. Have plenty of fruit and vegetables; eat until you are full at meal times and try not to snack - if you do snack make it a piece of fruit or veg.
But do eat foods that you enjoy - if you like cooking I've loads of low fat recipes on my website (completely free of charge) that is all about helping to keep a healthy lifestyle www.oldchem.piczo.com - do take a look.
4}Pamper yourself, if you feel that you are losing a little weight treat yourself with a new item of clothing, make up etc
Good luck, I'm sure that you'll do it!!

Hi spoiled311!
Hmm ... Maybe you eat too much?? even you eat when you are hungry, but with a lot of portion it will become a fat, or eating some snack could make us become fat also, running is good for fat burn, and doing some exercise on gym can help you, ask you physician to help you, they can give you the right diet schedule for yourself

I am the exact opposite of you.. I am underweight and I want to gain some weight. Anyway, I guess the first one you should do is set a goal for yourself. Think of yourself to lose weight for the next 3 months and let us see what will happen. Once you already have the goal, work for it. Discipline yourself in terms of eating. I know it is very much difficult to restrain ourselves eating our favorites but if we are looking for lose weight, then we must be strict on ourselves regarding those food. Having a regular exercise will also do a great help.

I am with an extremely fast metabolism, I can't gain weight even if I want to! I'm really underweight and I eat more than an average person...
But one thing I can recommend is biking. Get yourself a good bicycle and a speedometer which shows how much you have traveled. Then you can start keeping track of how much you ride. Start going for rides about 18km in length every day or at least every second day. This has helped 2 of my friends who were constantly on the verge of becoming overweight.
Hope it helps :)

We almost have the same problem, the difference is I am not yet overweight but going into it. Instead of thinking that and be depress, I start in my own simple way. I add physical activities like instead of riding a bus going home, I rather walk and it took me about 30 minutes of walking and during weekends, I do some household chores and many more. :-) And with all of these activities I guess I lose some pounds. Good thing right! :-)
