Paypal is very secure. You will need to connect it with either your account or your credit/debit card to withdraw money from paypal. And also the amount of transaction you can do will be very limited if you don't associate your account. You can still use your paypal earning to buy things online though.

I thought you had to get it through PayPal. I wouldn't be worried about security with PayPal, I have had no problems what so ever with them.
