Some men highly value homosexuality but is it detestable in God’s sight?

Adam and Eve - The man said,
"This is now bone of my bones
 and flesh of my flesh;
 she shall be called 'woman,
for she was taken out of man." Gen 2:18-23

“So God created man in his own image,in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Gen 1:27 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman, for she was taken out of man." Gen 2:18-23 Why God didn’t create another man to be Adam’s helper? Why did he create a woman? Is it because God did not want man to be homosexual? It is written at Luke 16:15 "He (Jesus) said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight." Some men highly value homosexuality but is it detestable in God’s sight?

I am wondering if you believe that God created Adam and Eve and then stopped? I'm spiritual (rather than Christian) and my belief is that God did not stop creating. I believe that God has continued to create even to this day. This being the case he is creating Homosexuals even as we write! Would he create an abomination? Can you tell me what other abominations God habitually creates? Would, or could God see His own creations as detestable?

Oh! So now you are talking racism! (Grains, and weeds are different races of plant life! Would you say-"God gathers in the white men, and burns the rest?"

OK, Adam and Eve were the prototypes; and gays and lesbians are the better models. Homosexuals existed in Sodom and Gomorrah too whom God chose to destroy. May be God has revised his decision and taken back his command to 'Go and multiply'. Is God leading the humanity towards extinction?

Concerning what other abominations God creates, he is letting the grain and the weeds to grow together. At harvest time he would gather the grain into the barn and keep aside the weeds to burn.

It depends on your religion. I can only speak for my own beliefs. I am a Christian, and for us yes it is detestable. But its not for us to judge these people, or throw stones at them. We have all sinned. God will handle things in his own way. We don't hate the sinner, just the sin. Gays are welcome just like any of us other sinnners are.

And exactly why do you "hate" the sin? Why hate at all? Why so judgemental? How about just make sure you are living your own life according to your own set of beliefs and stop judging others by YOUR standards?

Yes, I agree we don't hate the sinner, but only the sin.

Achilles, No one knows if it is detestable in God's eyes. I think as the passage states, God knows their hearts. I think what is in peoples hearts is all that matters. So many people form judgements about things like homosexuality and what not and don't bother to look at the hearts of these people. I think the passage means that God only cares about what is in their hearts.

"These points are correct for those that believe in God and the bible. Rather than to push those beliefs onto those that do not believe, everyone who does should just make sure that they live their own lives accordingly." If that is your personal belief, why are you pushing it on me and judging my actions? Physician heal thyself? all the best urban

No, Urban. I am not trying to push anything onto anyone. I'm just defending homosexuals. Everyone is entitled to believe and feel what they want. It's when they start publicly degrading them (this is a public forum) and talking about them as if they are lesser human beings that I speak out. Why do people feel the need to continually try to prove that homosexuals are despicable, sinners , freaks of nature etc etc etc. Why? They are not hurting anyone at all. They do get hurt by these types of judgments and they do not have the same rights as other human beings because of these types of judgments. Why the need to figure them out? Why exactly can't they get married and enjoy the same government benefits as other couples? Why can't they just live in peace?

Yes, this is according to your beliefs and the bible. Not everyone believes in God. These points are correct for those that believe in God and the bible. Rather than to push those beliefs onto those that do not believe, everyone who does should just make sure that they live their own lives accordingly. They should leave the judgements up to God. It is not even our place to judge their actions as being wrong. They are wrong according to your interpretation of the bible and that's it.

Yeah, I guess if you are a Christian and you follow it by the letter then I guess you are for a lot of other things that are now illegal or you are against socially accepted things. in the United States and many other countries. Such as Slavery, killing of adulterers, Women teaching men, women working, women rights and a whole list of other things. I don't follow the Christian faith because they seem to like to pick and choose which parts to follow and well a lot of the Bible is either out of touch with the modern world or is morally wrong. I am independent of all faiths so I don't care if it is detestable to the Christians God.

Not all homosexual men rape. Straight men rape also. I know of a man that sodomized his ex wife in the process of divorce. It was rape and he was not gay. It was as hvedra said more to do with humiliating and controlling her.

I just wanted to know, which side of fence I stand. Why homosexuals rape those who are not. They should limit their activities to those who like to be sodomized.

Nevertheless, they are homosexual hiding under the garb of straight men.

God made women, men.leisben's,gays, bisexuals and people who are gender confused, like being a women in a man's body. We are all equal in His eyes! I wish people who are total believers in the bible would open their eyes and except everyone,no matter what sexuality they are! Homosexuals are people, too! They deserve to be treated like the straight people! With equal rights, health insurance and anything i forgot! achilles2010 you seem like you are a bible fantic with a closed mind. I also feel you hate anyone who is not straight and anyone who isn't is going to hell. I feel you wish gays never exsited and wish they would go away! I am not gay myself but I have an open mind about everything, including homosexuality! This is 2010! Wake up! These people are real and aren't going anywhere!

There is a huge difference between murderers and robers etc. They hurt people. Being homosexual does not hurt anyone. It just gives everyone another cause to be judgemental against a certain group of people. I've asked you this before, Achilles and you never answered me. Name one reason why you feel they can not or should not be treated as everyone else. They don't care if they are accepted by you at all. They just want to be treated right. "despicable act?" really? All you have to do is stop picturing what goes on in their bedrooms and treat them like the people that they are.

A very good and eye-opening documentary on this topic is "For the bible tells me so". It really is insightful and informative and does explain some of the passages in the bible. I believe you could find it on You-tube and possibly elsewhere on the net. I would encourage everyone to take a look. Unfortunately, what I've found is those that really could learn the most from seeing it, can't be bothered. They are stuck in their old way of thinking and don't want to even consider the other side. Good argument, Blue. Achilles, I've never ever heard of a child telling their parents that he/she wants to be gay. Either kids cover it up because they KNOW they will be rejected by the parents or they fear that they will and quite often they are right, sadly. If one of my kids came to me and told me they were gay, I would feel bad only because I know how mean and unaccepting people can be about such things. I would not try to change them. I know I could not.

God of the Bible definitely abhors homosexual practice. I have no problem if people practice such pattern outside of the church life, but as a Christian who affirms that Bible is the authority for belief and conduct I don't think we can allow that. If someone wants to live outside of biblical authority that's fine. He or she has freedom to choose. But why bring in such practice into the church? I cannot ask Hindu to slaughter cows in their temple or pig in Mosque; if I want to do that I should not be Hindu or a Muslim. Similarly, if one wants to practice homosexuality I suggest that they move out of the Church/Christian community.

Here is what I don't get. If it is detestable in God's eyes, why the hell did God make them that way? I mean, why not make everyone heterosexual if that's the way he meant for things to be? I just gotta think God accepts everyone for the way he made them...

God did not say anything about his eyes. He said he would see people by what is in their hearts. If a homosexual or anyone for that matter is judged to be detestable or is esteemed by other men then it doesn't much matter because God will judge them for what is in their hearts. Those passing judgements might want to pay more attention to what is in their hearts instead of what others are doing that they might think is against God's rules.

Whatever it is, homosexual or not we all need to remember that we will all face judgement and when that time comes not only homosexual will be judge but everyone. I agree that its detestable to God, but they are still human. If you carefully read the Bible, even before the time of Adam and Eve there are already homosexuals. If you carefully read the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, you will see that there are homosexuals already. I think, what we need is understanding and prayers. They are still human. I think if i put my shoe on them, i wont judge them because they are gay. We dont know what behind that mask or why they become that way. WhAts important is that God is merciful and that he will see whats in the heart of his people and not because of what he is.

Achilles, They do not need the church in order to get married. They don't need the church at all for anything. They are not accepted by the church so why would they want anything to do with it. They do want to be able to get married outside of the church and so why shouldn't they be able to? There is separation of church and state. Why shouldn't they be able to adopt children? All sorts of problems for society? Like what? Please name a few because I fail to see any.

They are seeking recognition, they want church should solemnize their marriages, they want others too should adopt their way of life. They want to adopt children fathered by them through surrogate mothers. I see it all as a sort of a problem for the society.

lol you are using the bible to see what god finds detestable and what god loves? What you have to remember is that the bible was not written by god it was written by men and therefore has the ideas of men from so many years ago. It's ancient and dusty. Homosexuality exists not just in the humans species but thoughout the animal kingdom. These sorts of debates are getting rather old and boring. We are living in the 21st century and the ideas we have now are different to those of 2000 years ago. And what god? Where is this god you talk about because I've been searching for him since I learnt to walk and talk. You have no evidence for god so it doesn't matter what you think god likes and hates because at the end of the day people see what god is from different perspectives. The bible is full of a lot of things including contradictions so I feel sorry for anyone who takes it seriously.

Yesterday I read a story about a man who went to a barber for a haircut. All the while, barber was cutting his hair and shaving him the barber was jabbering and telling him more or less same things you have posted here. All while he kept telling him, "God does not exist"; if he were there, there wouldn't have so many miseries in the world; the people would have been happier". The man heard him patiently, gave him the money for haircut and the shave, thanked him and walked away. Barely few minutes later, he came back with a man. The man looked unkempt since he had not shaved and did not have a haircut for months together. The man confronted the barber and declared that Barbers do not exist. Barber said, "Why, I am here always". The man said, "True, but this man never looked for you". I think you got my message. There are men who say, "God does not exist" because they never look for him. Have a good day.
