Typing stories for a friend

Now, I've mentioned in the past about my one roommate being visually impaired.
So, we found some of her old stories that didn't make the transition to the current digital media and I'm typing them up.
I can't say I ever remember reading some of these, but then again, they are "fan" stories from universes I never got into.
The first one was a C.H.i P.s story (any one else remember that TV show?) Thankfully, it was a very short "snippet" rather than a full scale story.
Now I'm typing up an A-Team story. Honestly, I did actually watch an episode or two of this show, but generally because it was on when I was some place.
Now, later I'll actually be typing up a Wild Wild West story I wrote - the first bit of fan fiction I actually did write too, I had written for years, but never fan fic until that story.
So, do you find yourself sometimes having to do "grunt" work because it has to be done and nobody else is around to do it?

Awww, that's very nice of you to do ElicBxn! I'm sure she really appreciates it.
As far as "grunt" work goes, haha, I sell on Ebay, and I have dial-up slow as heck internet service cause I can't afford anything else. My computer is about 8 years old so I think you're getting the picture already, lol! Talk about grunt work, ugh. It takes me forever to put stuff on Ebay to list for auction, download pictures, look stuff up, write stories...do just about anything. I didn't realize I had all this foul language inside me, HAHAHA!!! Take care!

hey - LONG TIME NO SEE!!!
I just replaced my 8 yr old computer last year - well, it was 8 yrs old LAST year, then last month replaced the replacement
now, I have had cable internet, but that's because we are just too much online with all the computers to not have it...
I can imagine tho, you should've heard some of my language when the kitten killed my computer with a page almost typed without being saved!

Bobby, I am sure I have asked before, but what do you sell on EBay. I keep finding reasons not to get started. But I need to, the house ate my spare money. And I quit that other guy.

I was the only girl my Mother had and we had to do traditional roles according to my parents, so this is a sore spot.
Now I'm married and when my husband is at work, no one around but me and the cats.

My Mom was fine with that. I'm talking about housework. I couldn't go learn how to fix a car or do what they boys were doing. Not getting married, great, you'll need to know how to do housework-for yourself. I would have thought that would also mean I should know how to fix or maintain a car.

I often feel like that defines my life. When do I get to be a lady of leisure? I would love to find some paid typing, but alas, I have not. Gave up on the freelance I was doing as it felt too much like homework.

Well, I've never had to do that but I have found myself doing work that other's won't do. Unfortunately for me, there are people around but I still have to do the work because they just don't want to do more than need be and that they're getting revenge on others.
But really, it's fantastic that you're doing this for your friend. I know that I would probably do the same for them. I think you're doing pretty amazing with what you've done so far. And I'm also along the lines of working on a fan fiction. I hope you have better luck with your's than mine!

I always have to do my own dirty work because there is no one else to do it for me! It sounds like a bit of work re typing stories but fun at the same time; it would be great to read some of them again after years. I amaze myself at how much I’ve changed...

I guess it is a nice attitude to have a good help to a friend.
Your friend will not forgot it until she will getting old.
You can be trusted and leaned on for her own good. One day
you can also have it in the other way. As the saying goes
" Do what you want to do into others, and others do unto you".
You could received blessings out of it I'm very sure of that.
I can also do for my friend if she will ask my favor. I'm willing
also to help even no change after it.

Yes, this has been an issue with me many times in the past and and still is some times. I have put my foot down before and told people that I will not do this or that anymore that I'm not the person to do everything for them while they do nothing. Or that I'm tired of being taken advantage of. I really got tired of feeling that way. It was not just a feeling it was a truth and I had to put a stop to it.

I understand that she needs the help. For her it's not an option. She is not using you hun, she does need you. It's kind of you to do this for her since she can not do it for herself.

well, since she can't read much beyond a inch past her nose, she has to get down into the page to see it to type, where I can type it much faster than she could - not that she can't type fast, but she can't see what it is she is typing - when she's working and composing on the computer, the words are large enough she can see them

I remember The Wild Wild West... always amazed at how Jim could pull out some weapon or other out of that cute little (tight) suit... sigh... but I digress...
Never got into fan fic but am always doing "grunt" work...

Yeah, at this point, I don't need to handle the merchandise either. Looking's good enough for me.

Well, I do my own grunt work.
Hmm. That sucks. I should really find somebody else to do stuff for me. I don't want to work for me anymore.

Hey Elic! As always, you are such a wonderful friend to have!
I think you go above and beyond for your friends and they are
all very lucky to have someone as loving and caring as you are!
I have done things for friends from time to time that weren't
fun, in some cases, taking care of some quite sick friends.
But, that's just because I wanted to and they needed me! Not
everyone is this way so it takes a special kind of person to
do the things that you do and that I have done! I think we
both deserve a "pat on the back"~
