Many of us start working young and I started babysitting around 11. My very first job that I got an official paycheck for was working as a library aide in the children's department for our town library. I was 13 so could only work 10 hours a week but it was alot of fun being around all the kids. I helped out with story time and the arts and crafts on Saturday and 1 day a week after school. Tho I did also have to shelf the returned books which wasn't so much fun.... so What was YOUR very first job for a Paycheck?

Hi! tallygirl, i worked as a school nurse in a state university after i passed the board. That was my first job, and the salary of nurses at that time in our country was just 800.00 a month. I was so young then and my co-workers were in their fifties and sixties, so i found it difficult to relate to them at first. Eight hundred pesos at that time was already a big amount because salary of nurses in hospitals was only 600.00. After a year, i was offered a bigger salary in a Non-Government Organization founded by our first lady and i transferred. I enjoyed my work a lot because i found it so fulfilling. Until now i am still working in an NGO.

When I was 16 I applied at a local water park. I sold locker keys and tubes and cooler storage spaces. Now I am 22 years old and I am at my 6th summer at the very same water park. I have been a supervisor there for four years now and I still love the job. However, since I just graduated college I know that this is my last summer there and I fully intend to enjoy every last moment of it. The real world beckons...

Well my first job was at a rental party house. People would come, rent it out and trash it. Mainly all i did was clean up. To be honest, I hated it. People were mean, gross and rude. However i did really enjoy getting that first paycheck... which I promptly blew through faster than light.

My very first job that I had a paycheck was McDonald's. I was about sixteen years old, finally had my license. I was disappointed in the job, though. I would go in for a scheduled eight or five hour day and they'd turn around and send me home about an hour and a half after I started. I got fed up with it and quit after three months, so I could go back and concentrate on school. Technically, it could've been considered a summer job to pass the time.

My first job where I earned a paycheck was actually babysitting at a local church. It was perfect because all the experience I had up to then was babysitting/being a mother's helper. I've done a variety of jobs since then and am hoping to get a job in retail soon, as that's the industry I would really love to work in.

My first job was when I was in 8th grade delivering newspapers. Alot of hard work for very little pay. That only lasted a few weeks, then I got a job at the air force base commissary bagging groceries. We did not get a paycheck we only worked for tips. Since we were the largest base in England at the time everyone came to our store for groceries. I could easily make $200 a week cash, so that was pretty good for a fourteen year old. That was only working two hours a day, Tues thru Friday, then half a day on Saturday.

My first job where I got a check for working was when I was 16 and made about 400 dollars one summer working at a camp in upstate New York.I worked as a waitress in the summer camp I did this two years in a roll. Then after that I got a job as a camp counselor at a YMCA that was for only one summer. I don't remember the pay but I know it was again a check that I had received. It was fun time. Before all that I worked as a paper girl but it was cash I would receive.

I think mine was not really a job per se. I, together with my classmates and students from other schools, were Media Liaison Officers during the 12th ASEAN Summit last 2007. We thought that we would not get anything from it because we were volunteers. But we were just surprised that at the end of the event, our attention was called and we were given our allowance! Every thing was worth it, and the pay was just a bonus. The greatest thing about it was the experience we had - seeing famous media personalities in local, national and international level, and then learning a lot from their work. I think it's the important thing in any job. We should be able to find fulfillment and happiness in what we do because it's the learning experience that's invaluable.
