Its almost 100% sure that Noynoy Aquino will be our next president. What do you think about him being our next president? What are your expectations? Do you think he really has what it takes to lead our country? As for me I think its better that he won rather than Erap, which is sadly 2nd in the presidential race. I don't expect him to be the best president this country will ever have, but I expect him to be not the same as GMA. I expect him to be a lot better than her. I still don't think he has what it takes to lead this country. But I really hope I'm wrong since I have no choice but to believe in him since his the one that the Filipino people selected.

i didn't vote for him cause i think that someone else has more ability and will to lead our country. i don't know but i get this feeling that he'll be like his mother. he'll be our president for six years and after that, he'll let others to run for the next presidential election.

True. We may have respect for Cory as a person, but she was no hero president. She was just an image but didn't do anything. I would vote for GMA over Cory anytime. At least GMA has managed to keep the Peso high (from Php 50's vs USD 1 at the time of Erap and now stable at Php 45 amidst the recession all over the world). Inflation was just about 3%-4% instead of 8% during Estrada's time. That is what the class C, D, and E in our country don't understand and never will.

I totally agree with you mspitot. Those people behind him will only control him. Cory is not a good leader because she killed the local trade!

I think he would do good as a president. I trust him that he will never be corrupt. People think that he might not do anything but then it does not only depend on himself, right? I also believe that whoever becomes the president, the most important thing is that we also do our part as citizens of this country. No matter how good our president might be, if we won't cooperate with him, then nothing would happen.

Believe me, nobody would want to be corrupt but end doing so. I know for a fact because every transaction you do with the government there will be a percentage for the President of the county. It's an automatic thing or an SOP.
I just hope that he could bring himself to do something more or to return those percentages in projects or activities.
Believe me, I deal with the government.

I agree with laydee. I expect Noynoy to also be corrupt but not to the point like how corrupt GMA is. Let's all hope he'll do better than all the previous presidents.

Each president has his/her way in governing the country, in his/her own unique style. One thing that is allegedly common with the presidents of the Philippines: the command of the United States. This explains the huge amount of money allotted to debt servicing from our national budget; most of our budget goes to debt servicing. IMF-World Bank needs assurance that we could pay so they told us to make debt servicing our top priority. If only our president could decide for the Philippines with a bias only for the betterment of the Philippines, our country could prosper.
As Noynoy Aquino told us, he will address the problem with corruption so that the economic situation of the Philippines would be uplifted. However, corruption isn't the main reason for the poverty. It is the system.
And Gibo said, "Ang mga nagbubungkal ng lupa ang siyang dapat yumayaman sa bansang ito" which is absolutely true. I am terribly disappointed with the issue of Hacienda Luisita. Although it is evident that Noynoy does not own all the shares in the hacienda, being a leader long ago, he must have showed his compassion towards the Filipino people. Who would not be compassionate with the HL farmers whose wage is even below the minimum? They take shifts and every farmer could take 1-3 shifts per week. Their wage is PhP 9.50 (taxes already reduced), which means they could earn a maximum of Php 28.5 per week. I expected the President-elect's compassion to his people but I could not see it. I did not see it.
The incapacity of the current regime brought the Filipino people to almost beg and kneel for change and economic stability. The candidates packaged their candidacy as uplifting but for almost a century, the Philippines listened to promises that ended up being broken. So before the regime of the President-elect would start, he should be prepared to keep his promises, because the Philippines is almost ready for another people power.

He really should keep his promise. All hell will break loose here in our country if not. Filipinos are becoming impatient on the change. What I hate about Noynoy is his platform that he will address the corruption in our country. I don't here anything concrete on his platform. And I think dealing with corruption should be automatic since its bugging us since I don't know. Too long to know. He always says that he will not be corrupt. Of course he should not be corrupt. He doesn't have to tell that. Anyway he will soon be proclaimed as the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines. God bless him. God bless the Philippines.

I am not a fan of Noynoy Aquino. I think he's not competent enough to be the president of the Philippines. Maybe, i am not just aware of the things he has done for the country. However, i am still hoping and praying that he will make his promises come to life. I hope he would be able to remove or lessen the graft and corruption in the Philippines, review the pork barrel issues, help our less fortunate brothers and sisters, make the Philippines' a world class country, etc....

Nope you don't need to be aware on what he has done in our country because as far as I know he has done nothing. Without Cory's magic hes nothing. That's why I don't vote for him. But he's the one the Filipinos elected so I need to support him for the sake of our country.

That's one of the scary part of Noynoy being the president. I really hope he only appoints those that deserves the post not his crocodile relatives just like what happened on Cory's time. Massive corruption in the back of Cory.

I didn't vote for him but now that it is very apparent that he's going to be the next president, the only and best way to do is support him. He may not be the smartest choice but he isn't the worst either. I believe he is better than Erap, if that's any consolation. And since the majority has spoken, it's time to move on and just work together to make that most coveted CHANGE. I really hope now that he together with the others who won the posts, can make this country better.

Hello,
the only thing am happy about now is because he out phased Erap. with regards to Erap, i think it's GMA that needs to be blame here, it's KARMA because she got lazy in further promoting teodoro because of ERAP
The future is just remain to be seen because he didn't expose himself in the debates instead he let the media handle it

A pleasant day to you Juggerogre,
With reference to your query, I dont expect too much to our new President. As they say, you cannot please everybody. Even you are doing the right things, still, a lot of bad criticism will be thrown away to you.
For me, its not the expectation, what I am looking for is that, he knows how to pray whole hearteadly. If he has the prayerful heart, he has also a fear with God, and he will be rightful in all he does. And for that, he will not create a commotion that will destroy his governance.

I really hope so too. All of the past presidents look like they're praying wholeheartedly and look like they have great fear of God but all of them still ended being corrupt. Let's just hope Noynoy even though I expect him to be corrupt will still be the better president than anyone before him.

First of all I am glad that this discussion is very matured or even better compare to other forums that I am currently posting. Others are still in denial to the fact that they were haters of NoyNoy as if they are intelligent and smart enough for criticizing Noy Noy for all you know they are just ranting and being bitter that their candidate did not win, other than that obviously they are just being pessimistic because Noy won the election. Believe me or not there is another forum that I am the only one who is defending for Noynoy. That is just easy if they can't take NoyNoy as a President of our country then I think it is time for them to migrate to another country so that their problems will be easily solved! I am glad for a fact that others are not really rooting for NoyNoy but at least as what I have read to other posters they are still hoping, giving chance and open minded about the positive possibilities that will happen under Noy's leadership. It may not be the best but there are others that are willing to support Noy Noy as a President.
In my case I totally admit the fact that one of the reasons that I voted for Noy Noy is just because of his parents which is there is nothing wrong about it. Another thing I totally trust his integrity for leading our country. I don't expect much from him but I still believe that he can be the best for the development of our country like being far better than Erap and GMA. I don't totally expect that corruption will be done easily but I totally trust Noy Noy that he won't do that. He may not be like his mother Cory 100% but I still trust Noynoy for his willingness on serving the country.

I expect Noynoy to have some sense and backbone to always do the right thing. After all, that's the main reason he was voted by the Filipino people. They believe that with Noynoy, there would be less corruption. I hope this does truly happen. Like other posters have said, it would be great if Noynoy would adapt some platforms that would be good for the Filipinos.
I really pray that our country will change with Noynoy at the helm.

i also felt sad, actually more on bothered, that Erap is on second place. when will we ever learn right? In a way, it is a blessing that Noynoy ran then, because if not then my goodness, we'll have Erap again. Can't believe that convicted plundered almost made it to the top spot again. Right now, it is our hope that things will be for the better and that Noynoy will deliver his promise to build a better future for us Filipinos.

Well you know having a good president will involve a little luck as well. It's like in the drafts in professional sports, you could have a promising athlete which is highly ranked but they can turn out to be a bust. Hopefully Noynoy does not turn out to be a bust.

I really hope so. Remember Filipinos already created a huge mistake when we chose Erap to be the next president. We don't chose GMA. She cheated so that's not counted in one of our mistakes.

There will be a lot of expectations for sure. But we must respect that he was voted by the majority of our people. I didn't vote for him because I didn't think he was a leader. But I trust that he would do his best to not discourage the people who wanted him so much to be president.
It'll be a tough one for him, for sure. He's going to need more than popularity this time. I just hope that the people would help and cooperate. I pray that opposition and old politics would no longer steer up the people's trust - like what they've done with GMA who has proven herself worthy (else we'd be down the mud with currency and inflation rates if she didn't do her job).
I pray that the media would be mature for once and not just be critics but help out. Crab mentality will always be there and I pray that they be struck with lightning.

Let's hope for our expected president to be a good one. uplift our living conditions and more employment for the people. We're having poverty because we lack jobs. But some people are really lazy that they just want the government to give them food, they should be ashamed of themselves.

I'm really not a fan of Noynoy and in fact I didn't vote for him because he has not done anything significant that impressed me when he was a senator. He was just carried by the name of his parents and I think I'd rather have him as a president than erap. As to my expectations, I hope he can do the best he can to improve the economy and help the poor people improve their way of living. "Bayan Muna Bago Ang Sarili" (Country first before Self) should be his motto. I hope he can do this together with the help of Binay as the vice-president. Like you, I really hope he does not turn out like GMA.

Noynoy do not have what it takes to improve the Philippines. He do not have any credentials worth mentioning. I cannot call Cory and Ninoy a good credentials to be a president. I might be too hard on NoyNoy but I still hope that he can change the Philippines and if he can do that many of his critics will praise him. Let's put aside our difference and help the government to create a better Philippines.
