Lately I have been taking long drives to do some work for my company in the company van .Sometimes the driver just lets the A/C run for a hour or so of our journey but I am always the one to tell him to turn it off so we can open the windows. The fact of the matter is that I live in a tropical country and now with it being summer ,the temperature is extremely high but in spite of that I prefer the natural A/C(open windos).
Ironically I work in A/ced office but our A/c is not that cold and I can withstand its but somehow when I am in a smaller space I just cant stand the onslaught of the cold air.Now the question is how long can you stay under the A/C for?

Where i live in the Caribbean Jamaica is very hot in the summer, and sometimes my fan give hot air at times.
Some times i wish i have and A/C, but if i go out and when to the stored with a/c.I just wish i could stay there all day all night.
When i go on vacation i stay night under the a/c,i even sleep in the a/c at night.I can't stand the heat at all,and i hate when i sweat.

Me too. I just can't stand the heat. I'm happy that I'm going to migrate is some place that is cooled. lols.
But I guess I will be forever in a tropical place like the Philippines.
But same time I'm hoping that I can migrate in Canada.

I agree the a/c will be a more intense feeling if you are in a small place vs a large office space. Depending on how humid it is I may have the a/c on low as cranked ajavascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$cphMainContent$lbStart','')ll the way up isn't good for you and wastes energy + money!

I think that I could stay in air conditioned spaces for an endless amount of time if the thermostat isn't set to a temperature that isn't too cold because the air conditioner takes the humidity out of the air (I live in an area where it tends to be very, very humid). However, if the temperature is set at a chillier temperature, then I can only stand it for spurts of time from 10-15 minutes an hour.

Can I work their? Were are you working? lols. Because I'm a type or person who lives in tropical but do want to live in a cool places. Right now most of our electricity bills come from aircon consumption. That's why its really frustrate me when its summer time because I really can't stand the heat.

There are key factors to consider that may decide for you on which unit to buy. You wlll want to determine what size you will need. This is achieved by measuring your room space and finding a system that can cool the air for that particular space. You will also want to put the system in a location where the slight noise might affec you. Even though these systems try to be as quiet as possible, there is still a faint humming sound.

I really do not know about your place but in our place if you do not let car a/c from running and enjoy the natural breeze it would be very hot and you would sweat a lot when traveling. My country is currently having the hottest summer ever. That is why people flock to the malls to cool themselves in. Getting out is not advisable because you will dehydrate yourself more so if you are traveling it is more comfortable to travel with a/c on than not.

I am not a big fan of AC too. I can't last longer. But right now, at this climate here in Philippines - it's very hot and most of the people are found in areas where AC is rich.
As for our house, it's been used as often when my mom is here for she works in a hospital in Saudi Arabia and their place is centralized AC so she pretty lived much in an AC area.
Just like you, I am more of the eFan or open the windows type. =) Good discussion ronny. =) Cheers!

Hi, ronnyb. If the air conditioner is icy cold, I will want to get away from it. I don't like to be in cold air for too long. I can stay around it for about, 35 minutes to an hour. I will get cold and then will want it off. Sometimes I can get so cold that I will want to go outside and warm up in the hot heat.

I am one of those cold people and I tend to feel chilly when everyone else is warm so I can tolerate the air conditioning in small doses before I start to freeze. In my car it’s not so bad because the AC is not a really strong one but the one in the house can get too cold which of course causes friction with everyone else in my family who don’t get bothered by it so much!

It really depends. For example, when my shirt is all wet, I won't want to be in any place near aircon especially if I am in a car, I will either take the back seat and wind down the window. But if I am in an air-conditioned office, I think I can stand almost the whole day (other than the lunch time break)

It actually depends on the temperature and fan speed of the air conditioning. I like to stay for a long time in those places with mild temperature and low fan speed air conditioning. But when the air conditioning is too cold or the fan speed is too high, I can't really stand for more than half an hour. Goosebumps will appear on my hands.

I will admit that I am a "wimp" when it comes to the heat. I live in a subtropical area where it can get up to 37C+ and 100% humidity, but I would rather live somewhere that does not get this warm. I could personally go for somewhere that never got warmer that 10C. So, if it were up to me, I would probably have the air conditioner on year round. However, I am not the one who pays the electric bill (and I could not afford to be), and I live with people who like it a bit warmer. My position at work is very much the same.

I feel dizzy if I are under the Air Conditioner exceed fifteen minutes. The air cold here at night, maybe I'll stiff and unable to move. I can not stand when the air inside my head. For me, without A/C as long as there is a gap in my home for the entry of air.

I could not stay that long under the air conditioning. Even if I am sleeping I could not sleep if the air condition is on. But if I am in the office, I need to have the air condition on because the office doesn't have windows.
