I was just going through the news on Yahoo when I came across an article "Study on cell phone link to cancer inconclusive". I wont give a link since it isn't worth reading. But, to be brief, this survey was involving 13,000 participants in 13 nations and cost the United Nations a whopping $24 Million!
Well, what do you think? Shall we all volunteer to take part in the next U.N. survey, whatever it is? I was thinking, if they just paid us one dollar each, we would all be happy and the U.N. would save several tens of millions to waste on some other project.
Would you like the Mylot admin to volunteer our services to the United Nations?
Perhaps you could even come up with some new ideas for the U.N. to spend its millions on!

That's a great idea.
There are lots of things I can think of to spend the $24 million. For instance, providing clean water to the villages in India, Bangladesh, Africa, etc. How about educating the beggars in India on how to make a living for themselves? Rehab for war torn countries and so on...And well, it could be spent on getting the checking system so that the right person or community gets the benefits.

Oh, you have hit the nail squarely on the head with that last sentence! U.N. very rarely helps the people who most need it.
I also agree with your other suggestions, particularly water as I have lived in Pakistan myself and know all about dirty water or the lack of it!

i guess even without a dollar, i will also participate in that survey. at one point, we are involved since it's U.N. and we are part of the organization. i thought it's going to be U.M. as in United MyLotters Organization?

We are part of the organization? Well. I'm not, other than the fact that I probably pay them in some way from my taxes. A U.M.O. would certainly do more good, and at a lower price, than the U.N. itself. I hate to see so much money wasted.
Many decades ago, I saw a U.N. survey to decide if African villages could use solar power. What a dumb question! That cost a mere 5 million dollars, a huge amount at the time. How many solar panels could they have bought? We never heard the result of that survey, and how many African villages have solar power today?
