currently i am a college student that is trying to make some money in my free time, hence me joining mylot :) but i am also self employed. it seems that in todays economy the only jobs available are given to someones brother or sister or other family member of a current employee. i have looked for a job and 9 times out of 10 you have to know someone in management in order to get that job.
i am curious as to what all of you guys/gals are doing to pay bills? have you had to get a second job? or cut back on some things you liked to do but they cost too much now?

Well, our family has actually been quite lucky during this difficult time. My husband is the bread winner in our family and he has worked for the same company for the past eleven years. Last year they did cut out their overtime so we did go through a time where we were struggling quite a bit, but we were able to get through that time of trouble by consolidating our credit card debt and we started to actually get to the point where we were spending less money than what we were spending. Then, I've babysat some and I've also joined a couple of online sites so that I could earn some extra money so we could have little luxuries in life.
