I shop for food only once in a week. I always see to it that the food I bought for the whole week is also enough for the whole week's consumption cause if its not then the budgeting would be destroyed. Do you also buy food once in a week or your buy food everyday? What's the most convenient for you?

My refrigerator is very small so I don't have a lot of room for fresh foods and I don't like to buy too much packaged food. I also don't have a kitchen so that means no storage for rice, pasta and dry goods. I usually shop every few days (as needed).

I use it mostly for things to drink and stuff to make salads.

i'm more of a impromptu grocery shopper. i mostly buy what i need, when i realize that i need it i've always tried to avoid from keeping too much raw food in the fridge and cupboards. so whatever that i store in my kitchen are spices and other items that are not easily perishable..

You have a point about the perishable goods but I always make sure that I will be able to use them before they get spoiled. There were times that I bought some raw food and they ended up in the garbage and I dont want that so learned from that mistake.

i've experienced having to throw out spoiled raw food too sometimes some of us can get so ambitious when shopping.. well, best to buy what is needed, when it's needed. then it wouldn't be much of a wastage with spoiled raw food, or too much left-over food

I don't go to the grocery but every couple of weeks normally. One reason i don't is that i buy too much . I could go every day & find something to buy, lol.

Going to the supermarket everyday is not very helpful for me. I hate it when I go to the store and find something I wanna buy but there are limited resources.I also like the idea of buying at least once a week cause I focus myself on the things that I need and not on the things that I want.

Once a month we do shop for the things we need. From toiletries to food and other stuff. However, even if we have enough food to prepare I still go to the market everyday to buy ingredients or other food such as fish and eggs since i want them really fresh.
It is truly an inconvenience but I got to do it anyway if I want to enjoy our meals.:-)

I don't buy vegetables for the whole month. as a matter of fact i only buy vegetables for two days' meals. this is the reason why i still have to go to the "talipapa" to buy such stuff. i like my fish and vegetables fresh.:-)

Wow! Once a month? I wonder if vegetables are still gonna be fresh after storing it for a month. I dont think its ever convenient for me buy something for the whole month. I also like going to the super market at least once in a week and it has been a weekly routine so I get to go there every Saturday.

When I was 12 years old, my mother already taught me to make a list of the things that we need at home and she also taught me how to shop. At a young age I learned how to do it and now that I am married, what I learned from my parents is very helpful. Good thing I didnt lazy around when I was young.

I usually go to market to buy foods like fruits,
vegetable, and fish twice or once a week every market
day in our place. It's more practical to buy twice a
week because if you buy everyday then your fare and
effort to go in the market will make you use your spare
time be in a not productive one. While if you would buy
once a week then there's a possibility that most of the
food you've bought to be fresh would deteriorate without
accumulating all of it so I'll still prefer twice a week.

yes it really is and you can use bargaining if it's market day. well, it's fun doing it. I too live in a city and it's good to somehow have a market day. Where are you in after all? you might not just know that there's actually a market day in your place

Speaking about pay, I dont like to go to the supermarket if its payday. There are to many people and I hate crowds. When that happens I always have to go to another supermarket where there are gonna be a few people. I also have bread in my cart every time I shop.

I shop only once a week and I always make a list. I also set up a budget and stick to it. I make a menu for the week to make sure that every meal is plan. I think that shopping on a daily basis makes a person spend more money. I go to frugal cooking web sites to get recipes with less ingredients.

I don't go shopping all that often. Perhaps twice a month, maybe more. Not very often at all actually. I don't need to go that often as we often stock up for the long hall. My partner, George, is a packrat by nature so we end up with more then we can handle at any given time.

I am lucky. I never go to shoping for food. my mother and my husband are buying all that food for our home. i am lucky on one side but unlucky on the other side as i have very serious health problems. so, I would be happier to go to buy food then to stay at home...just another point of view...

If I were in you situation, I think I wouldnt consider myself lucky cause I am the kind of person who wants to contribute something. lol
I love going out too at least once a week. I go to my workplace everyday except for Saturdays and Sundays so its a chance for me to go somewhere different rather than look at the four corners of our office.

I shop twice a week now a days. Earlier i used to shop once. Now we have a kid so, to provide fresh vegs and all go to super market and shop twice. Some times we make another extra visit also. I thing the fruits and vegs, if you store in refrg for one week yuo lose the vitamins and minarels. Though it is convenient to shop once i have decide to go twice for the shake of my kid.

Your situation is understandable since you have a kid then you're kid deserves all the freshness he can get from the food that you prepare for him. My sister is also doing what you are doing. She buys food on Saturdays and buys food again middle of the week cause she also needs to give her kids the proper nutrition.

Once a week, I go to buy fruits and vegetables. I buy it more enough so that I may not go again and again. But if required I go again as the grocery store Big Apple is very near to my place and I don't have problem going there. I make sure there is enough in my budget to avoid problems. But food is the most important thing so there is no compromise with food in my family. What do you think? I have never bought any food everyday..

I too shop once a week at a local supermarket.
I will get a list on what to buy and stick to
my budget. However, if there are some sales on,
then I will shop more to take advantage of the
offer. However, I do once in a while go to the
wet market to get some fresh meat and vegetables.

My husband and I plan out in advance what we are going to eat for the whole week. I can cook anything out of what I have in my fridge but there are times that my husband doesnt like what I make so I always ask him what he wanted to eat and its helpful. It makes me save time and money so we get to buy only once in a week.

since we only have a small household, i only shop for food once a week, and the veggies i just buy what we will be cooking for 2 days, the rest we buy in the veggie stalls nearby. i also try to be within our budget and we by for the week, so we really have to be conscious on the amount we buy.
cheers and happy myLotting!

i don't know how often because it's unregular for me. sometimes, i go to shop everyday because i like shopping. and sometimes, i shop once a month because i am busy or unhappy. and i never do a budget for anything, maybe because i am single and i do everything depends on my mood.

Budgeting is very important for me. I also need to work on a budget and teach my family member how to budget. When I was single and had a lot of money for myself, I also worked on a budget and saved money for future use. That kind of habit was very helpful for me now that I am married.

I usually do the groceries on Sundays. I make a meal plan for a week and try to list all of the needed ingredients. It's easier for me this way 'coz I don't have a nanny and Sunday's the only day my hubby can look after the kids while I market. Shopping once a week also saves me time, money (buy in bulk, if applicable), and energy.
