Earlier, our office manager just sent a very brief message to everyone's email.
"No one in the office is allowed to use speakers or headsets"
I use music to help me relax and to liven me up at the same. How sad that now that option is gone. Haaay...
Now the only resort left is coffee. Do you have other suggestions?

what about asking if you can use them during your break so that you have a chance to relax, its a compromise i suppose

Hmmm. We also had the same memo in our company I think last year, but nobody really followed, cause we didn't get the logic why would they ban headsets, it says in the memo that you are disturbing your neighbors in the office, but how can they be disturbed if you're using headsets right? Anyway, I followed the rule for like a couple of weeks, but went back to using my headsets, cause as you said, it really is a stressbuster for me, and when I need to relax and just take my mind off my work, then I just listen to the songs.

that is so sad, but speakers are naturally should be banned because they disturb others as thought most of us are music lovers we diverse in music selection and genre, the headset should be given a little consideration, but if it hinders productivity of any employee then the company has all the right to ban them as they are paying you to do your work properly.

I don't think it will change anything, but is it worth asking why there has been a change in polig=cy? Maybe it's health and safety related.
I'm not surprised that this has happened. I think that music to one person is noise to another. I once worked in an office where I couldn't hear mysekf think. I had to answer telephones and sometimes I couldn't hear the client. When I asked the individual concerned to turn the noise down he took it as an insult.
I think you'll just have to adapt. Don't see it as something personal. It's not. Don't spend your time getting annoyed about it. It won't help. Just try to do your job well. Maybe practice your favourite songs inside your head if it helps. They can't take your imagination away from you.
