Okay so I'm sure the world has heard. The Travolta's are pregnant! Although I am very happy for them especially due to the recent loss of their teenage son. If one more talk show, news report, commercial, magazine commercial or any other type of media talk about how they are pregnant I swear I may just scream to the top of my lungs!
I heard this for the first time 2 days ago- since then- THATS ALL I HEAR. Its been on the 5am, 12pm, 5pm, 11pm news, its been on every morning show- Its creeped into daytime when Rachel Ray mentioned it and Wendy Williams--- its just been OVERSAID!!
I think this family has earned some privacy if only because they just lost their teenage son. They knew they couldn't keep it a secret for long so announced it on their website which to me would have been sufficient enough for fans.
Instead the media replay the fact that they are pregnant and about their dead son (RIP) constantly!!!
Isn't there anything else that is more new worthy than this? Goes to show what investigative reporting has turned to for a "story".
Why am I not hearing more about the 7 year old that was shot and kiilled in a police raid?
Why am I not hearing more about Arizona's ridiculous immigration law debate???
NO, our news thinks that Travola's personal life- is far more important for us to know...then what is really going on in the world. Obviously you see that this infuriates me a bit and I just wanted to vent!!
What are you thoughts about what your local and national TV/Radio stations deam newsworthy? Do you find yourself listening and saying- "I could of done without that piece of information in my life"? I know I do!!!!

They're pregnant? ...ok, ok, I heard it also over and over on all channels on all time slots!!
Now Im sure they'll be on Oprah's also soon. So brace yourself or turn to some drama on some soap.
We're quite lucky here that our news doesnt usually talk solely about celebrities. We have TMZ for that or ET. But I do notice our journalists picking on a story and not letting go. Makes you wonder at times if its easier for them to just repeat what everybody else is talking about instead of doing some real digging.
We have so much corruption going on with our governments now that Id sure welcome happier news at times.
Now, in 9 months, we'll hear about it all over again with the Travoltas having the baby!!!!!!!

I agree with you totally. We are too obsessed with the lives of celebrities. I mean, come on, they are also human. There are lots of other things that are more important than one celebrity going out with another celebrity or on dumps the other, etc. etc.
To answer your question, yes, there are lots of times that I thought to myself that this information does absolutely nothing for anyone and it should not be on the news.

Yup- totally useless news. If I wanted to get totally useless news I would turn to a show such as TMZ which follows celebs around.

warmweatherwoman,
Tabloids, tabloids and tabloids. Even the national newspapers are filled with it. Look around, if it is not Travolta's good news, we'll have the dysfunctional Katie Price, Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, Nicole Kidman, Little Suri, Sandra Bullock and the list just goes on and on.
One moment, they have some dress faux pax, then some booze sessions and what have yous - and when you think all's over then we will have another kiss and tell. Sometimes, I wish that these news be banned at least from the national newspapers. I am not against freedom of speech but like you these are not even value for news at all.
I mean, who cares? Right?

You know what sky...if it was limited to JUST the tabloids- I would be e static...because reading Tabloids is a choice. It takes a choice to pick up one of those trash magazines and waste time with it. But this news is in my regular newspaper, on my regular news and in magazines- like Better Homes & Gardens- I mean sheesh..its like they are force-feeding us useless news to fill our heads with!

warmweatherwoman,
Well, what can I say?
Spamming is rampant and it does not merely exist on the internet, they are on our papers and our favorite non tabloid / gossip magazines.
