I don't know about you, but I use my cell phone just for making calls and sending texts. I don't need or want a smartphone, iphone, blackberry whatever. I would never use it to go on msn or to check email or to play games. I have an iPod touch and I know if I'm going for a long boring trip to bring that. For me, my cell phone is not an entertainment device, its one for communication. How do you use your cell phone?

Me too, well I have a phone, a quite old one, it's a Nokia 6021 and I use it only to call people and rarely to text because I feel Its better to call while taking time to text but in case I do not have much credit I then text. I do not like high tech phones as it costs a fortune to me and then I can always be checking my mail as you said in my laptop.

Till now even I used my cellphone only for calls and send text message.
But after 3G coming into India I am planning to purchase a smartphone for video and song streaming. also for video call and browsing.

It really defends on the person what he wants on his phone. I have a friend who have 4 cellphones, maybe because he have 4 GFs, I even know a guy who buys all the latest models of phone, maybe because he wants to be proud that he has that expensive phone. I know a girl who always ask for load because she don't have money to buy for load, but her phone is so hi-tech, It has all the features a cellphone could offer, it only lacks a dental-floss. :) But generally, cellphones are invented for the purpose of communications. So I all the people who buy it, wants to use it for calling.

In my country cellphones are actually used for social status. If you have the latest model then people would think that you're rich which is of course not true all the time.
I am contended with the phone. It is not a smart phone but I can play games, store music, take pictures, send sms and of course call. I don't see a need to upgrade to the latest cellphone model just for social status.

I personally use my phone mostly for texting. I'll make phone calls occasionally, but it's generally texting that my phone is used for. However, my brother has a blackberry and my cousin has an iPhone. The extras that come with these as far as internet and games come in handy on long road trips or when they need to look up information when they're not readily able to access a computer. It all comes down to personal need and where your lifestyle takes you. If you're generally able to be home a lot, I can see why there isn't much use for all of the extras that come with a lot of phones. However, if you find yourself out working or socializing more, those extra can pass time in the off hours when you're still not home.

Ha! You make me sound like a shut-in who has no social life. I just don't spend my time on social networking sites 24/7 nor do I feel the need to. Checking facebook once or twice a day on my desktop or work computer is good enough for me. If my friends want to chill we call/text each other.

Same here. Even if I want my phone sleek and looks expensive, I won't really spend big bucks just for a cellphone. I only use it for sending SMS or placing or receiving calls. I have an Ipod that I play if I want to listen to music though sometimes, I also use my phone if I want to tune in to my favorite FM radio station.

I mostly use it for text messaging. I have a few songs on it, but those are custum ringtones for when people call. I don't always want to look at the caller ID when I'm calling someone. Or receiving a call especially if I'm going out and am using my headset. I can't always get to a place where I can reach down and read the I.D. So I know who'se calling just by the sound.

For me this device is for both, I mean it is for communication and entertainment.
I do have old phone which is Motorola V3i, I use it for communication purpose like e-mail,sms, calls etc.... I also use it for entertainment, like listening to music, watching video clips, taking pictures etc...
I think we have to use all the features came with the phone if we need. Just using it for communication purpose, why? If there's entertaining features, why don't use it? This is my opinion on this.
