As most of you know I was bitten badly by a Dog on Saturday, I love Dogs, I have had Dogs all my Life, never feared Dogs Well today, I was on the Field with Gissi, Jean was with with Roxy and Buster Next thing this great big black Dog came charging towards us, Gissi of course was barking at it, I got up, shouted "Please not again" scooped Gissi in my Arms and waited for the Dog to go for me, to try and get Gissi, Jean came running over to me, I was shaking like mad, she gently took Gissi of me and told me that she knows the Dog and Owner they are ok, Gissi in the meantime was making friends, the Owner apologised, but I told him, it is ok, it was me being silly, he said he had heard what happened and he does not believe I was silly at all I cried, I felt stupid, but more to the point I had never been scared of any Dog, I wasn't scared it would attack me, I was scared in case it was going to have Gissi but it wasn't, it was coming over to make Friends, I felt so stupid Jean told me it is natural and I will overcome this I really hope so I love Dogs and have never really seen them as Danger Will I overcome this?

Oh Gaby I'm so sorry to hear this happened. You will get over this fear soon enough though. Having that other dog attack you just rattled your nerves and advanced your fears for a bit. I hope this is not the case any more when you go out. hugs...

You will sweetie in time. You were only doing what any mum would do and protect your little Gissi as you thought he might be in danger. I'm sorry you were so badly bitten by a dog that's really sad that happened, but since it was so recently you're still a bit shaken up from it. Give it some time keep going for your visits to the dog park and you'll see it'll get better in no time at all :) ((((hugs))) it'll be ok Gabs.

That was a totally normal and expected reaction. You have been tramatized and it will take time for you to recover. Your love of dogs will help you overcome your fear. It will take some time but it will happen. I love dogs too and have been around them all my life. I'm not scared of dogs that belong to people, but I am scared of dogs that are loose or that come charging up to you. Take care Sweet Gabs, its going to get better.

You will, in time gabs. But I think you have a healthy fear right now. It's self-preservation, and it's natural after the trauma you have experienced. How is your leg sweetie?

Awww Gabs, you for sure will get over this, but it will take time. You've been through quite an ordeal, and it's still not over. There is no one in this world that would not understand this, no one. Don't ever feel stupid about acting that way, most people wouldn't even have the courage to go out for a walk this soon. You are very brave, intelligent, protective, and kind, you will certainly overcome this before you know it. I give you so much credit for even stepping out of the house, and that shows your positive attitude that you will overcome this horrific experience that you went through. Hugs hon..xxx.

oh my gosh of course you were scared, you had already had one bout with a unleashed violent dog, then to see this huge black dog come racing at you it all replayed in your mind. I would have been the same way too.I am so glad it was all a false alarm. I think psychologically it will take a bit of time before you trust again, but you will. this was all new to you and now you realize not all dogs are friendly.I am glad the owner of this new dog was' kind and understanding to you.so the dog just wanted to be friends'with Gissi and I am so glad.wow. Yes Jean is right this is all perfectly natural for you to feel like that. I know that from the time I fell and smashed my shoulder making it mandatory to have a steel andplastic shoulder joint, I am always afraid I will fall . I walk with a quad cane now,one of those thingies with four feet, and I will make sure there is nothing in my way to trip over. I hate that I feel this way but my primary care doctor said its perfectly natural after a disaster to be leery of things. So sooner or later you will again trust strange dogs but still you will be more careful too. I know I now keep a pathway around my bed so I cannot stumble over things.my roommate has a jumble of belongings on the floor and she just blithely walks over them and never trips. manyhugs to you and Gissi from hatley.

After what you went through, of course it's natural for you to be scared when a big dog comes at you. I'm sure you will overcome it with time and patience.

Hi gabs, Oh! hun, I don't blame you for being scared out of your wits, I would be too after what has happened, I know you will overcome this as you are used to dogs but with me since I was bitten by one big dog, I am afraid of them even in my adult life but small dogs like Gissi don't bother but I know small dogs can be just as dangerous, you will be ok in time, please take care, love and hugs. You may never be as trusting as you were before, but this could be a good thing and save you and Gissi from a similar situation. As for crying don't worry it's just stress relief and good for you, everyone who knows the story understands and those that don't will be told the story by your firends. Blessings

OMG Gabs YES, the fear will lessen with time!!! It is understandable that you will feel GREAT fear at first. As time goes by & you face your fears daily, the fear will become less & less. You should NOT have felt stupid for feeling fear for your & Gissi's lives!!! That is VERY NORMAL considering that it has only been 4 days since the attack. I've been concerned how you would react if the dingbat that owns your attacker had let him back out to roam & you come face to face with him again. Just keep telling yourself that NOT every big dog is mean!!! As I said before that it is stupid owners who raise stupid dogs!!!! Also, remember that dogs can sense fear. Practicing staying calm when facing another big dog can save you & help control the fear!!!

Yes, I think you'll overcome it. The very fact that you've gone back to the field so soon after the incident is proof.

Hi gabs, Since you love dogs, I think you will overcome this. It's just so fresh in your mind as yet and I don't think you were being silly at all, it's very natural. I'm glad that Gissi is making new friends. Blessings.

Probably not completely. I was chased by two dobermans once and I am still afraid of big dogs. My son, who reads meters, my old job....has been mauled by a pit a bull dog. Neither one of us can get over that fear. He did get a rottweiler but they ended up giving him away. You have to try for you and Gissi both tho. It's a mind altering thing you have been thru but you will do fine. You will always doubt a strange dog. Don't worry. Stand your ground. Get some pepper spray in case...... But, you are fine and the tears are an attempt of your body to wash away the fear. Hang in there and remember all dogs are not bad. Gissi and his friends are not. You are not. There is always going to be one bad egg in a group. Many hugs, quita

Sweetie, if you let yourself between strange dogs more often you will overcome this. Once bitten by any dog can make you react that way. Just take it easy and be patient. It will take a while, okay. TATA.

I believe you will. Heck, your leg is still probably throbbing...it's hard to forget so soon. I'd give it some time and you'll feel easier about new dogs. Have a great day, Gabs.
