I had seen my grandma at the age of 70 strong and doing all the house work and ready to pull the water from well which is around 60-70 feet deep. they climbed step at the age of 60 they climbed 20 -30 ft of stairs , but nowadays the generation has reached a state where in the 25 years person cannot climb 3 floor staircase they say they are tired, its not only girls its boys too.
The generation has changed the life style, now all talk about their capacity and status and style . but the way our grandparents lived nobody cant live now .
do you feel the same , is there a huge difference in the generation growing in.

I admire the oldies of today who are still quite strong, and at the same time pity those who are already weak but still too young to be considered strong. These things were attributed to our lifestyles of today. Oldies of today with who can still carry heavy task mostly can be seen in the countryside where air is fresh and consumes fresh produce in their farms, and habitually sleeps on time. While those living in urban areas were experiencing heavy vehicle emissions, have to eat instant foods loaded with MSG on it, and tend to stay awake a long time. Most of them have lingering ailments too, already.

That's an interesting observation. I think people have become lazier and most only do what they have to do or want to do. I think a lot of it has to do with a persons health and things that are out of their control. I've seen some very active 80 year olds and some very sick, unable to physically do much 50 year olds. I look forward to others thoughts on this. It's a good discussion.

Hello Ganesh. Fantastic topic. I've been thinking of the same way too. It feels like technology today doesn't only teach people to be dumb and lazy but they even became a tool to shorten our life span. Don't you notice?
Food chains are supposed to make our lives easier so we eat on time or eat while on the go while we're on our way to work or school. But look what happens, food chain meals are the source of obesity, cardiovascular diseases and it makes our body become junkyard for preservatives.
Different modes of transportation are supposed to make our lives easier because we could get to our desired destination in a short time but the emissions of these vehicles are ruining our ozone layer.
I'd rather go back to stone age way of life than die without even reaching 50 because of the effects of modern technology to my body.

Yes true, now i usually travel daily by bike , even when its 1 km we travel by bike, if our grandparents ask us we coolly say we dont have much time to do work we have lot of work , we are not lazy like you. but its true that we are more lazier than them we dont do work correctly as required too. if we had done one work neatly rather than finding shortcut for everything its just spoiling our own life -just like slow poisoning

hi there.
i also noticed this. i am quite scared that the fatality rate for our generation becomes of young age. we can still see older men and women reach age 80 or so. they've lived healthier lifestyle and now they are reaping what they sow. they have longer time to enjoy life.
in our generation, you can see from the news different ailments and diseases at young ages. i heard from the past that there was this guy who was hit with heart attack at a young age of 24 because of his cholesterol level.
the newer and newest generations have bad lifestyle. notice that we are not really concerned with health. we'd spend more time on there stuff like going out, parties, computer, virtual games, fatty food, junk food, etc. etc. only a few percentage would actually engage in physical activities such as sports.
obesity rate has doubled compared to last decade's. i guess i have to give up some luxuries and other hobbies and start loving my health. i plan to live until i am 90. there is so much to experience in this life, and age 50 is a quick deadline.

Thats really great to know you are ready to give up the luxury part of life for our health, but i feel even the environment has changed where in even on your activity changes also the health doesnt become well because of this pollution and noise surrounding us in the cities

yes today's generation enjoys so many conveniences that encourages one to be less physically active. then there's the convenience of fast food which, more often than not, is not healthy. but then again there are also many of today's generation who are health conscious - they eat healthy, get enough exercise, go to gyms, etc. i think it's a personal choice how one lives.

It is also you can see when nowadays hospitals are filled with patients , whereas our grandparents never went to hospital for their health treatment in their life

hi ganeshprabhuk wow what a long user name. oh yes I am stronger in some respects than some fifty and sixty year olds I know. I am partly handicapped but can still walk and I did work until I was 80 andam now
83 and am still going strong mentally if not as strong physically.
What I treasure is my high IQ and my mind. I am not senile nor do I have Alzheimer disease either.I can think, and write and read as well as I did at thirty.

There is some truth in that. People are spoilt these days with too many ‘mod cons’. We don’t even have to leave the house to do grocery shopping let alone obtain water from a well; hardly anybody does that anymore and these are just some of the life style changes that have made life easier but have created a generation of unfit and possibly overweight young people due to a lot of the convenience foods available today. Having said that people are a lot more educated nowadays in regards to healthy living and a lot of the time it is just a matter of choosing to live a more beneficial life style.

Its a pathetic situation when compared the present generation with their grandparents;in every walks of the life the present-generation(pg)are very inferior to their grandparents-generation(gg).Leave alone the physical side these pg's are even far behind the gg's on the mental stamina, the patience, mental well being and so on;and if this trend continues I am afraid in the comming time our coming generation will be all of them become paralitic both in their mind and physical side.
While on the other side we the present generation who are scrutinizing the whole phenomenon are going to be blamed by both the pg's and gg's b'coz we are the ones who are supposed to carry forward the rich past culture, habit, knowledge and so on to our coming next generations.

I totally agree with you. A simple act in our lifestyles that marks the difference:
Our grands and even our parents lifestyle is walking around trying to find something that earns merely a penny and not more.
Our generation, are giving out tonnes of money just to get into a gym membership to walk around.
Go figure.
