I am fond of watching Extreme Makeover home edition that's because I get to see people helping people. It brings tears in my eyes as I watch the show. I am convinced amidst the crises, amidst the wars, amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life and the not so good news on the news channel...there are still good people out there.
I like the show for bringing that sense of community and goodwill into the tube. These are stories worth featuring and shows worth watching. Don't you agree? I get inspired just watching the show to get out of my comfort zone and help those who are in need. Mum said a little goes a long long way. A little bit of kindness goes a long long way. Kindness like laughter is contagious and we will affect others who is near us with a simple act of kindness and it passes on.
I wish I make more money this year so I could share the blessings with those that are in need. There is a children's shelter that has been newly built nearby and I want to support it and volunteer sometime. I heard there are some displaced and abused kids being taken care by this organization and will be moved in here. It will be a swell time to share my time and resources with them. I'm also planning on getting Missy trained for a therapy dog. So I can bring her and help the abused children to open up.
Until then thank you ABC for this wonderful show. I hope there will be more shows like this in the future.

Aren't the people on the show (the ones getting a house makeover) usually families who help out their community in one way or another? I've watched the show and believe I have cried at some of the episodes just because of how kind everyone is. It's such as blessing to see that there are still kind people in this world and that their is still kindness. I am hoping that your dog will be a good therapy dog, I read your other discussion but did not respond because I honestly don't know if a Bull Mastiff is a therapy dog. I hope you can volunteer down at the shelter and that you can bring Missy and let her help alleviate the children's minds.

hi cowgirl,
I get teary eyed too just watching the show. I mean yes these people who get helped has done something for others in their community and I can say all of them are not well off either but that does not keep them from helping others and showing love and courage in their day to day battles in life. That's what is admirable about them and that inspires people like me to get out of the comfort zone and help out. I watch the show especially at times when I am feeling ungrateful because of what's happening around me- that's just to remind me that I have to move on forward and not to give up on others, as other before me did not give up on me either.

It is truly amazing to see those who can't really afford to help others themselves, helping others. It does bring tears to my eyes, and joy to my heart, as well as pride. People helping people is a beautiful thing, and I only wish that I did more to help my community...

I am not very much about the show.
But this is reality there are still a number of people very good.
I think the world is running due to those people only otherwise the evils would have eaten it. I meant for bad people. They are every where. But good one is hard to found.

I only watch that show once, but you are right. It did give people a sense of community and helping each other. I like that. I would like to help others while when I was in need, some one would help me back too. That is community, and we should help each other.

That show makes me cry every time! I just fills me with good vibes. I love watching someone's dreams come true. Especially someone who's lost so much, battled so much. It reminds me that good things really can happen to good people. And I love seeing strangers come together to make someone else happy. It's always good seeing that kind of community and devotion. It's made me want to get into working for Habitat for Humanity, where they help build homes for those with none. I don't have the means to do it now with working full time and no options have come up in my area. But one day I will do my part to help in this cause! Until then I do what I can when time allows for me to volunteer my time helping for local causes.

Yes still there are so many good people around us. That's why the world is still so beautiful. And still there is a peace.
But the good people don't get what they deserve. I hope they will always exist.

I also absolutely love this show, it is aired here in the UK on the satalite... it always makes me cry... especially the beginning when they show the video asking for help, and the team always cry at this point so of course that sets me off as well... also when they "Move The Bus" and see their new house well there I am back in tears again lol... but I know what you mean... it is so nice to see that these people get so much help, and I also struggle to think how many people are this kind these days... it is a great shame actually that there are not so many others that could pull together and help the needy, then this world could be a better place.

My cousin was on that show when it came in near his area. He was a volunteer, he helped with the framing and concrete work. He said it was a fulfilling experience. He said he would do it again if the opportunity came his way. Helping is a perfect way to give back with no hidden agenda. I help out in my neiborhood any time I can, I plant trees, mow lawns, clean ups when ever I can get into.
