Cryptic message from the bank is making me toss and turn

I'm not an insomniac, but tonight I might be turning into one. I can't seem to find sleep. I tried playing a computer game until my eyes can't take it anymore. But nothing happened. So I got up and decide to write. But my mind is wandering. I don't know what's wrong with me. It must be the letter from the bank I received the other day. I applied to a new account and they are asking me to go back to verify some stuff. I'm far away from the branch right now and it would take me months to go back there. I can still deposit and withdraw from my atm though. Annoying really. Why can't the banks specify what they want and not be so cryptic about it. "We would like to take this opportunity to request you to verify if the data we have in your account is correct. Should there be changes , kindly see us at the bank and we will be glad to make the necessary correction." THis letter was sent from the bank on the day I applied to the bank and it just arrived a couple of days ago. I went back to the back a day after I applied to submit my online banking form. They did not mention this. I went back again a couple of days after and still no mention of this issue. So why the need to verify stuff? I'm obsessing. Argh. I'm trying to ignore it since its not clear enough. I figured if they really needed something they'd send another letter. But I can't sleep thinking about it. IF I go back to the branch that would mean I have to take a few days of vacation. Sigh. Am I daft for not understanding the letter for what it is. Or is this a common thing banks do?

It may be simply that they want you to verify that your information is correct. As its a new account. If there were any problems then they would need to to see them at the bank other wise it sounds like your all good but to just make sure I would call them. As I read your message it really tells you that they are asking you to verify that the information they have on file for you is correct. "We would like to take this opportunity to request you to verify if the data we have in your account is correct." Next they tell you if its incorrect to see them at the band regarding the mater. "Should there be changes , kindly see us at the bank and we will be glad to make the necessary correction." No need to worry your all good.

So I guess there's nothing wrong with my records then? If I don't need anything changed I don't have to right? Oh thank you. IT's 5 am here now. I can hear the birds waking up and chirping.

That seems very cryptic to me too. Could it be scam? I thought banks are usually very clear. I suggest you call the bank and find out. Most banks have phone banking these days, so you may be able to verify the details over the phone instead of having to go to the branch. Or may be you could visit the local branch nearby, if there is one. I know that in India, with my bank, I can go to any branch to make changes to my account or to verify or anything. I don't have to go to the branch in which I opened my account. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Call them in the morning and you will be able to know what it was about. Check the bank's website, may be they have a 24 hour phone number.

I think I just might. My online banking application status is still on the process so I'll really have to call them. I guess I've always been afraid official letters. I always think I've done something really bad. Like when the school PA system publicly announces your name and you get a little apprehensive.

sounds to me as if you're OK as long as you don't have any changes.

Yep that's what my dad keeps telling. He even offered me a tub of ice cream so I can just stop pacing. Silly dad.
