I have used some of anti viruses in different time, namely, AVG free version, Zone Alarm- free version, Kaspersky (paid version), Norton and Quick Heal total security. My present anti virus software is Quick Heal Plus. But in my opinion Norton is best. I have been attacked by virus while I was using the mentioned Anti-virus soft wares except Norton and partially Quick Heal. So my first choice is Norton and second is Quick Heal. My present license with Quick Heal Plus will expire on November and I have already decided to purchase Norton without renewing Quick Heal.

I agree with sona, the free ones are easy to get, and less expensive, but they are not as complete as Norton the paid one. I use it and I don't have to do anything, it takes care of my computer just like a 'soldier', it fights and works against everything that attacks !

Thanks for the opinion. I am not familiar with Quick Heal. Who is the author of this antivirus? What is the minimum requirement for this antivirus?

One thing I like about Avast is it has real time protection so it is protecting me every time I surf instead of me having to do a manual scan for it to work like most anti-virus programs. Here is some of its features web shield, also monitors some of my downloads,p2p shield,im shield download(helps protect me from instant messages that I download, network sheild,

I have always been a big fan of AVG Internet security - free version. The tech guy hired by my father-in-law swears by it. So I always used it. I switched to Full Version (purchased) at the recommendation of my tech guy, after I had been badly infected. I am now using Kaspersky Internet Security. I still use AVG free version on the computer in the factory. If you want to download AVG, you can get it from http://free.avg.com You can look for a free anti-virus from http://download.cnet.com I am sure you will find one you need from here.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. Its pretty good and costs around Rs.800 for a single Pc for one year. I am not having any problems with it. The user interface is very good, and automatically scans links to check if it leads to malware websites. Try it, you will like it.

In my opinion, there are only a few select programs out there, which are free, that you can use to scan your computer and get rid of threats completely. The only problem is you'd have to know exactly when and how to use them. The best approach is to always buy an antivirus that has a subscription. You at least get technical support in case there's something wrong with the program.

Use Faronics Deep freeze, You can acquaint yourself with the features using the trial version good for 30 days. You can download it from cnet.com ( you are totally safe with deep freeze, Install the program on drive C)
