Here is my problem here. Does anyone have any idea how to establish network between a Windows operated computer system and a Linux Operated one? I mean a network where they can share files. How can it be bridged the gap on this one?

We have done the connection between windows and UNIX using the SAMBA software. I believe SAMBA should work on Linux too. After the installation, you can just open the Linux shared directory as windows directory. So you can try to look for the SAMBA installer and related documentation online. I hope this will help. Happy posting and have a nice day!

Thanks for the tips. So, can you download SAMBA for free?

Yes, most of the Linux application are free. I did a quick check through the search engine, and found a few link showing how it's done. http://www.brennan.id.au/18-Samba.html http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Samba http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/Samba I have never done it myself. My company is using Unix and the samba is installed by I.T. personnel.Hope these can help

of course it is free. It's linux and is under the GNU - General Public License which means it can be modified and downloaded for everyone. Though i use linux, I don't connect my computers through samba. :)
