i hav used both windows and linux ....and i think that we can really not judge that which one is better....sometimes linux really astonishes me...how can they make and provide a fully functional(that too with gud graphics) stable os for free...but the only factor that pushed me to linux around 2 years back was the no. of viruses that were on my windows.....but now with 64 bit windows the problem has seeped down a lot bcoz many old viruses dont install on 64 bit...so at present im with windows 7...

yes absolutely,i forgot to mention the fact that ubuntu is free, moreover one can order a copy of latest ubuntu for free no charges whatsoever,i got the cd in 2 weeks.and yes the data security in new versions of windows has dramatically decreased security threats.but i still think besides entertainment and games ubuntu is the better OS overall.have a nice day friend!!

It really depends on what you need.
In my opinion Windows are just popular and everyone thinks that all application are made for windows which is not true.
anyway, if you want to game a lot, I would go for windows.
if you are a graphic designer/video editor, I would go for mac
and last but not at all least, Linux can combine all the above, but only if you know the "how to" and find the right substitutions of the software!

Windows is better for home computer and personal PC . Linux is better
for a business application. So you should decide which one is better for you.
You can try them both.

Pretty good question, The answer is very simple.. it depends on what your needs are ..I have windows 7 64 bit and a Ubuntu on VMware but mostly i use Win 7 looks cool, fast as well and since most of my day's task requires me to work on windows..
If i have to use Ubuntu then i will run it from my VMware .. by this way you can have both the OS :)
Happy computing :)

If you want to entertain yourself use windows, if you are in serious business (not online, lol)so use Linux, a virus free environment.
I prefer windows its is best for entertainment, more than 90% users are using windows for all purposes.
And new version of windows, oh my god, no one can beat "WINDOWS 7".

I think windows operating system is easy to use as a new user because windows is easy to use and it is very friendly to user the access of windows is very easy as compare to linux its installation process is very tough but in windows it is very easy but in some cases linux is useful like networking because for networking we need a good operating system.

I prefer to use Windows because this is an operating system that I am familiar with. If I have to use Linux, I have to learn it. And there are not many softwares support Linux.
I love China

I use both. I'm using Windows or Linux depending on the needs at that time.
To build a server I prefer to use linux (ubuntu or CentOS) because the server is accessed by multiple computers, thus requiring a server with the operating system that is not heavy. I always install linux with the "text mode install",so performance is faster.
If only for the desktop operating system I prefer to use windows, because of the ease in operation and more fiture that can be utilized.
