I just got a new computer that has Windows 7 and there are many things about Windows 7 that I do not like. The folder structure is cumbersome and hard to find things in if you are downloading, etc. For uploading it is even worse. Also, did Microsoft really think that in the media player that comes with Windows 7 that people want the video blocked by the progress bar and other buttons if you want to do anything while the video is running or if you pause it? I guess I will have to hunt around for an older, better version of media player which will probably have to be many versions older if one is even available.

Don't take me wrong i use windows 7 and it works like a charm.. Microsoft has given all the options to change the way you want..( not sure though) and also if you have problem with windows media player.. you can use itunes or VLC player ..i use both and they are really good..
Anyways have a good day ahead!
Thanks,
Sasi

I've use vlc for years but I prefer the stand alone old version and it won't work with Win 7 for some formats such as wmv; so I had to download the new version which has to be installed. Unlike XP, 7 does not remember a folder set up in general much less keeping it for one folder and not for another. Uploading pics to some storage sites requires going through the whole route to get to the folder you want on every pic which is a big time waster.

I personally find nothing wrong with windows 7 but you have to get used to it for a while. Switching from Xp to windows 7 is huge jump as windows vista had a similar interface to Windows 7. Regarding Media Player I don't seem too have same problems that you have. Probably it wont let you install an older version.

I haven't looked for an older verion yet. Hopefully it will let me install one if I can find it. There are things that you can't seem to do. For example if you are uploading pics you can change from details to list in the active window but can't make it permanent, show each time you have to change so that you can easily see the entire file name; it is a big nuisance. And if you expand the window it does not remember it and you have to do that each time, too. There is all this hype about how great it is, but those are just a couple of examples where it is harder less convenient to use than XP.

I'm not really excited and eager to buy 7 because everything works in xp and some things don't work in 7, still better than vista but there will always be problems with every system and i don't like the new look because everything is harder to find now. I can see the picture...spending 700€ on new pc, being happy before i install 7 and than the disappointment. They say compatibility is very important and how standards are applied and in the end it's like in real world...nothing works as it should. Have a great day anyway

Eh. In my opinion, Windows Vista 64 Bit is the best OS as of now. It is easier to navigate, add/remove programs, and overrall use than Windows 7.
