It may sound alittle strange but a hot drink can and does help you to cool down. I know everyone thinks things like ice cream and ice cold drinks work but they dont really.
When you have a hot drink your inner body heats up so to cool it down to it's correct temperature the pors in your skin open up allowing the body to breathe and in turn cooling you down.
Have a chilled out day.

you are actually right friend, in hot weather i always take up something hot. I feel better, sometimes it sweats a lot after having a cup of tea or coffee in such hot weather but it cools the body alright. Moreover I prefer fresh fruit juice without ice-cubes rather than hot drinks, it can irritate the tummy for a while though :)

Summers are scorching hot in India. I live particularly closer to the Equator. So, you can expect a long overhead sun in my city and the temperature shoots upto 40 degree Celsius and more.
It is getting hotter everyday here and suddenly, you can find showers here. Maybe a day out of 30 will be overcast. Ceiling fans don't help in eradicating heat - they instead bring extra heat. I use table fans and the Air conditioner. The air conditioner seems to be my savior these days.

Oh well!! A question : Is UK that hot? What temperature does it reach?
Too many people means lesser air available for each of them.
I use the Air Conditioner - it keeps the room cool.

the rise in global warming is all the reaason for such hot and hotter summers. I take a lot of fruit juice to keep my body cool. The fan I don't think it makes up much of cooling for the hot weather but it does help a little... If the power is gone then there is nothing worse.
But it is raining in my place now, so it is chilllll he h :)

I use air condition in my room. And when i go outside i use umbrella to protect myself from hot sun. Take bath everyday and sometime i use some powder which is very helpful.
And keep some cold drink always with me.
Good day!

We experienced El NiƱo here but thank God its over. The things I did to stay cool are taking a bath three times or more a day, eat ice cream or any cool beverage, and turn the air-con to its maximum capacity. I also tried going to the beach and swimming pools but it didn't help much because the water was warm.
The sun's heat was really bad last month and to add up to the heat we had shortage of power because most of the electricity here are generated by hydroelectric power plant. No power means no air-con or electric fans and the rotational brownout last 1-10 hours depending on your location. Sometimes brownout happens during 10am-4pm its the peak hour of sun it was really a torture.

I do not have conditioning, but i am now seriously thinking of getting it as i think the heat is not helping me much as it is making me feel sick and with already having high blood pressure this is not good.I do also have alot of cold drinks in my fridge aswell as ice cube.I am like you and take cool baths all the time.

Drinking lots of water would help, some refreshments like juices and fruits would do as well. I also take a shower whenever I feel the need for it, I find that refreshing too.
As for my place, we only have fan as well. so what I do is, grab a hose and water the ground to cool it up and go to the mall sometimes (it's near my place).=)

Make sure your fan is turning the right way. I put window fans in, blowing the cool night air into the house at night. Then when I get up the house is cool I shut the windows on the south and west to keep the heat out and turn a fan in the north window blowing the heat out during the afternoon and early evening. I try not to cook to much indoors, unless it's late at night or early in the morning. Drink ice unsweetened ice-tea or ice water. Take a cool shower or sit in a cool bath.

I have a fan that runs in our basement that blows the cool air up to the main level. We have ceiling fans and 2 a/c's. Though I hate to run the a/c as it costs more electricity and affording it is another kettle of fish. We also have a small 36in above ground pool the kids like to enjoy in summer.

Living in England we do not have much hot weather (though we have lately lol) For me to stay cool, I open the windows and the front door. I also drink plenty and stay in the shade as much as possible.
I also eat cool meals and having a cool shower or bath helps to cool me down.

You need to keep the house closed up during the day. This means closing windows and doors, curtains closed, and use the ceiling fan. Then in the evening when it cools down open up the windows and doors and let it air out and cool down. That is what I do and it stays nice inside.

It is getting cooler here now as winter has just started, but for most of the year here it is pretty warm, so I am experienced at trying to keep cool.
I like to go to the beach to get wet and also catch some of the cooler ocean breezes. At home we do not have air conditioning so we have ceiling fans and pedestal fans blowing the air around all the time. We also have high ceilings in the living areas of our home so the hot air has plenty of room to get away from us above our bodies. We also have security screens on our windows and doors so we can leave the windows and doors open constantly for six months of the year which allows any breezes to flow through the house, preventing it from becoming stuffy.

I live in Canada and almost every house and apartment at least in the cities has air conditioning, so when it is very hot I just stay inside. When it is very very very hot the city usually opens cooling centres in schools for senior citizens and people who live in places with no air conditioning.
However, I usually take one European trip each summer and I dread it this year. While I have been pleasantly surprised in Malta, Spain and Italy where I found simple guest houses or small hotels that actually offer air conditioned rooms sometimes with a small surcharge for extra power I have not found it in Germany where I am going this year.
What I find is that all the windows are opened wide early in the morning to let the cool air in and then they are closed, and all the shutters and drapes are closed, until the evening when cool air is allowed to circulate through the houses. It works for some time, however, when there is a prolonged heat wave the houses heat up and nothing seems to help.
I have heard many popular urban myths in Germany, namely that air conditioning makes you sick, is unhealthy, gives you a cold etc. and for that reason very few people have installed it.
Since I am on a budget I always stay in modest places and so far I have not found any modest small hotels that have air conditioning.
I also find a hot cup of tea makes me feel better than a cold drink when it is very hot.

We have air conditioning in our house so I keep that on during the summer. We also have fans in the house. I try to wear light clothing that isn't very hot. I also like to drink lots of water and eat watermelon too.

Well, for me, it's just a matter of getting used to the heat outside.. ONce we are used to it, anywhere in the house is considered cool for me, even without the fan on.. hehe ^_^
I learn about it, when i'm in the army, whereby there's training everyday out in the hot sun.. After a short time, my body has accustomed to the blazing heat, and so as long as i'm in shade, it's considered very cooling for me.. haha

We've been through summer's heat at last. We went on a week's vacation to the province for a week to scape the heat in the city. Although it's still hot in the province, the open air and the trees make's it bearable. On the last day of our vacation, rain fell which is a sign the we have to start working again.
