Why, as soon as the weather is warm enough, do I have to listen to the constant bump, bump of a neighbours so called music?
It would be bad enough if these people were teenagers but they have grandchildren of their own so why can't they be more thoughtful?

The amount of mistakes in your response indicate that the loud music is not helping you to learn.
Not everyone enjoys loud noise, if it was music I may feel differently but it isn't it's just the noise of bass. Maybe that's why young people seem so aggressive nowadays, the bass gets to them without them realising.

Is the music too loud for comfort? Music is supposed to soothe us and to make us happy, but I can see that your neighbor's kind of music must be going out of bounds. I hope they do not do that 24/7--otherwise, you just have to walk up to them and make that request. You said that they are elderly---have they lost their hearing perhaps that is why they are not hearing this?

If they were elderly it would be different, they wouldn't have the constant thumping of the awful bass, they are in their late forties and appear to have reasonable hearing.

I hear you my dear friend, I hear you, and I probably can hear their music too, I have the same problem although it's screaming kids, barking dogs, it's more like Battersea Dogs Home around here, and why do kids have to scream? I don't like sitting out in my garden because of the noise and yes on a Saturday afternoon as soon as the sun is out the constant boom, boom, boom accompaniment! Sadly we live in a selfish society and people don't care about their neighbours, we even have people lighting bonfires when our washing is out, if that is not damn selfish too. No respect, no regard for other people and if you don't like it, tough is their attitude. That is another reason why I love the Winter!

I knew you'd know how it feels. I love quiet and, it seems, very few people know how to be quiet nowadays.
Take care.

We live next door but one to a pub (bar) so we probably hear the music a couple of times a week in summer plus all the Bank Holidays etc but thats not too bad. The worst is the thud thud coming from the cars of parents waiting for their children to come out of school. The bell goes at about 3.20 but people turn up around 3pm to get parked as close to the gate as possible. The parents make far more noise than the children!

Maybe the next generation will be so sick of noise they will learn to like quiet.

have you tried talking to your elderly neighbors? they oughta know that you mind the loud music.
i guess for them they are just practicing their freedom to do what they want in their household. however, what makes it wrong is that they are already an annoyance to the people around them.
on the lighter note, at least they aren't playing the songs in their generation. at least you can relate to the music that they prefer. haha.
so, what do you plan to do in resolving this daily dilemma?

It appears we just have to put up with it but the people are supposed to be moving soon so I hope the next lot won't be so noisy.
They aren't elderly as such, they are in their late forties so should know better than to inflict their noise on others.

We all have different personalities no matter what position we hold in life.
If they live in a private dwelling I would only advise you to file a complaint with authorities. If they live in a mobile home park or something, you should talk to your landlord.
You have the right not to be bothered with this. I have a son that cannot stand this stuff. Sometimes, whether you like to or not, you have to go to the authorities about it. Just don't try to take matters into your own hands. That don't help. It only makes the situation worse. Hope this has been of some help to you.

It's no use filing a complaint, the council will send them a letter telling them I will be keeping a diary for two weeks, apparently it has to go on for two weeks before the council can help. Obviously they will be quiet for two weeks and start again after. this country is hopeless at upholding its own laws.

Hi nannacroc, I can sympathise as I understand how aggravating unwanted noise can be. Perhaps, if the couple playing the loud music have grandchildren then it's quite possible that they are deaf or partially so. If they have been playing "heavy" music for a long time then the damage has been done maybe.
I'm a modern granny and I love rock music as much as classical and I play both really loudly sometimes...my neighbour hates it. She's 10 years older and plays crappy music from the 50's, boring stuff and country from that era too and she plays it loudly and it's really painful for me to have to listen to it.
I find it helps if I play my own music at that time and focus on my music so that I don't hear what she is playing. Other than that, you can get some of those soft ear plugs that are so readily available these days.

I hate when people do that. I'm in the back of my apartment complex, and I can still hear the heavy bass when some yahoo is in the parking lot annoying the rest of the complex. They can't not know how loud it is. And it seems they do it especially on the weekends because no management is around to chastise them.

I'm lucky enough to have good neighbours now, but the last ones were terrible all day they played their hip hop music and rapping music really loud, it drove us mad. luckily they have moved now and we have a couple with three little girls who are charming to have as neighbours its all peaceful again. I hope your move soon too.
