I've been wearing glasses since high school. My grade in astigmatism is kind of high because of TV and computer. I also have near sighted grade because of reading.
I want to try wearing contact lens but since I haven't tried it before, I'm scared. When we slept over in hotel, my friend forgot her contact lens case and place the lens in the glass. She forgot to inform us. Unfortunately, my other friend used the glass without knowing that the contact lens were there.
It is expensive but you can lose it in just a second. Without proper care, it can also get broken. It is so delicate that is why people would still prefer eye glasses. One good thing with contacts is that you can change your eye color :)
Which do you prefer?

Ahahahaha. Like you, I also use glasses, though I only started when I was graduating from college, around 5 years ago.. Just a couple of days ago, I lost my glasses and I had no time to look for it, so I just decided to buy disposable contacts for the day, I was scared, but it was not that hard to put it on and take it out... It was a nice experience, cause it really feels like you have a 20 20 eyesight again. LOL.
Anyway, it really depends on the lens that you buy, and the one that I tried was too expensive, so I bought another pair with a lesser price, it turns out that that was a bad idea, cause the one I bought was not as comfortable as the one that I tried on. Though people said that I would soon get used to it.. Anyway, I found my glasses ( it was under the bed ) So now I returned to my glasses, LOL. I guess I would just be using the glasses if I'm going to an event or something. Hehehe.
I just feel that glasses is really for me.

Hahahaha. Contacts are definitely harder to find.. I lost my first pair ever, good thing that it was disposable and can be used only for a day. LOL.

haha! I know a lot of people who lose their glasses all the time! I have a friend. We went to a resort before and when we were about to go home, her glasses were missing! We had to search the whole place for it. haha good thing we found it.
But then again, missing contacts are more difficult to find.

i have been wearing contact lenses for over 10 years now. There are pros and cons. Pros: no need for bulky glasses that keeps going down through your nose.If you are concerned about looking like a nerd especially if you have a very high grade, contact lens is great. If you are a fashoinista and would like to update your look this is good. Cons: expensive, can cause irritation, can cause corneal abrasion, one can develop allergies to the lens in the long run, can easily get lost especially if you have the transparent one.
However if you just follow good hygiene there we be no or less problems. The optometrist suggest that you only use lenses when you go out of the house and when you are in the house one must use an eyeglasses so your eyes can breath and contact lens induced conjunctivitis be prevented. Also keep an extra pair handy especially when you travel so if in case one pair gets lost or torn you have a backup. It is a must that for extended wear lenses you throw it after a year.

Wow, 10 years is long. It is a bit scary to have corneal abrasion lol! But yeah, glasses slid down the nose and it really is a hassle.
Good hygiene is needed indeed. Thanks for the advise :)

i think i prefer eyeglasses. because i am not very used to having "foreign objects" in my body. in my work, i get really tired too and sometimes i think i just go to rest and forget about anything at all.. so im worried if i use contact lenses i might forget i still have it on my eyes and i have heard too many stuffs about it as well, like it irritates, and is actually dangerous when left in the eyes...

That is the difficult part. SOmetimes we tend to fall asleep while doing something. When that happens and you are wearing contacts, your eyes might get irritated and that might also cause some problems.

I hardly ever wear glasses, though I have poor eyesight. To be specific,my left eye's eyesight is much better that the right one's.It started when I was in junior middle school,I think.I used to read in bed ,lying on my right side.--That could be the reason of the poorness of my right eye's eyesight.I got my eyes tested and bought a pair of galsses.I have used it no more than 10 times. Its a troublesome.I will not even think about contact lens.It takes more time to wear and its less convenient.

I have the same case. My right eye is poorer than my left. So when I take off my glasses, my sight is uneven which make me dizzy. I wonder how you do it.

YES!!! OMG, when I rode a roller coaster before, I had to take off my glasses. Then I have to put it on again after the ride. Then take it off again when riding another ride. It is such a hassle and when I remove it then put it back on, I get dizzy at the end of the day.

Lucky for me I still have a 20/20 vision until now so I mostly use sunglasses. If my eyesight becomes bad, I think I would prefer to use glasses. I am not too comfortable wearing contacts because I think of it as too invasive. I shudder at anything that will touch my eyes. Plus I don't think I can be meticulous in cleaning the contacts. There are already a lot of pretty glasses out there, so I think of it more as an accessory.

Good for you that you have 20/20 vision :) I envy those people who don't have to worry about not seeing things in front of them lol!
Well, true. There are fashionable glasses out there. But still, it depends on the person wearing it :)

i haven't experience using contact lenses. That is what I am scared off to. I had seen my favorite celebrity and his contact lenses broke, it made his eyes bleeds. He looked quite irritable and shy to face the public.I was the one who took notice it and told him. I am wearing eye glasses now, although some eye glasses makes the person wearing it to look old, I don't mind as I have no choice but to use it or instead I cannot protect my eyes from the screen of computer.

Leave alone the losing part... There is a lot of risk to your eyes if you use contact lenses... Prolonged usage of contact lenses causes many problems... I know a friend who was using contact lenses for a very long time that ultimately she had to undergo a laser surgery. It is also very inconvenient to use. You have to keep your eyes dust free... you can't cry.. you can't wear it for more than 6 hours a day.. There are lot of issues in using it... better go for glasses itself. Glasses can help improve your personality too

If I were you, I'd get contacts. I wear glasses now but when I married my husband I wore contacts. I absolutely loved them but my husband won't let me get them anymore because I lost a couple of them. It costs money to replace them.

I am not very comfortable with contacts. I have tried buying ans using one but was only able to use them but once. I am so bad when it comes to putting them into my eyes. I would rather have glasses.

i use both... i use glasses at home and to let my eyes rest. i use lens when going out. there was a time when i only used lenses and my inner upper lids had this irreversible eye condition known as lid roughness. i had to stop wearing lenses for a month. however, when i used glasses the whole time, my grade went up. so i just use both.

I've been wearing contacts for almost 8 years now and have never gotten back to glasses. The reason was my vision is very poor, a -7 and my glasses were thicker than anything. My had no confidence at all and scared away all potential guys and the day when I got contacts, everything changed completely.
Even yet, I've never had the opportunity to try on colored lenses. I would love to one day...when I can afford paying for them. Just remember if you do get contacts, you need a new prescription and also a different prescription for colored. Because if you forget and come back later to request them, you'd have to pay for another eye exam.
As for your friends, it takes responsibility and learning from your mistakes to wear anything, be it glasse, contacts, etc. I've forgotten my contact case, my contact solution and even backup contacts all the time. It's just something to learn. Even with glasses, I would always forget where I placed them. I will consider getting lasik surgery in the near future.
One good thing about contacts for me is that I can cut up all the onions and not cry a tear! Well, that's only for me. Good luck and hopefully you enjoy whatever it is you choose to wear.

I have worn eyeglasses since the second grade. That was many years ago. i have had opportunities to go for contact lenses. I have always declined the contacts .It was just too uncomfortable for me. I'll stick with my eyeglasses. Not having to wear eyeglasses or contact lenses would be better yet.

I wanted to try contact lenses when i was in my younger days(2 years back). But then, the doctors said I would be careless, now they recommend and I reject. There are a very few negatives as well and I believe I want be able to manage with contact lenses he he :)
It depends on the environment you are in, if hot, dusty atmosphere then don't. If your environment is always clean then you won't have a problem. There are other things as well, contacts can be used for only around 8-12hrs a day, depends on what we buy. And the rest of the time, spectacles.

hi pierrella!
i also have been wearing glasses since high school. i would like to try to wear contact lens on my eyes but i just didn't get chance to do so as i prefer to wear glasses alot. contact lens requires a lot of money and we need to change it frequently compare to glasses and i don't think i can take a good care of it. so i will choose glasses instead of contact lens.:)

if you are good looking in glasses then it is more better. and if you feel that you are not, then try contact lenses. it have to be cared well but it is more comfortable and also you can change your eye color , it is up to you, but i will prefer glasses most because i like it most and feel that i am good looking in glasses.
