after graduation, i prefer to be employed for 5-10 years max and afterwards i will start my own reason..that is for the reason that i want to get more experience and learn the different styles and techniques in running a business..also i believe that would help me to become a better employer if i know the feeling of being an employee once..

that is so true, we can't be good employers if we haven't experience how to be an employee. we can be models for the people that will work for us in the future.

i prefer to be employed at the moment because i am the type of person who do not like to take a risk... and i think having my own business will have lots of risks involved especially in today's economic conditions... at least by being employed, i know for sure that i will have a fixed income every month and i don't have to worry about going hungry or having no money to pay my bills... take care and have a nice day...

yeah, being employed is really safe since you don't have to take a risk and still you are getting a fixed income every month.

I have always wanted to own my own business. I am at the point right now where I do a little of both though. I have a job in a restaurant, but I also sort-of have my own business going as well. I do jobs such as pressure washing, lawn mowing, and other jobs for people as well. I hope to be able to stop working for other employers altogether, but I don't realistically see that happening any time in the next few years. I think it would be cool to start a company and provide jobs for other people as well too though.

Depends on the situation dear.
If i am having a stable business,i would settle for it.
It is good to run our own business esp when you are enjoying it.
But,even if your business is in good state, and you are not happy with it,or,if business is not your taste, then, better find a job that suits you.
I know someone who is like this.
My friend's family had a family business, but she doesn't like the business,it's a meat shop in the market.
Maybe due to the nature of the business, she doesn't like to help with her family.
What she did is,she finds a job that suits her like and she did the right thing.
She is now in a good position and is also helping her family financially.

i have seen most people opting for the job, after retirement only end up with nothing but burden of loans on there heads.i personally believe that business would be better option for me and that too i like commission based business.we study for 15 long years and then too we do not have the garantee os getting a good job.but if in business we work hard for few years then we could settle our life.
have a great day and happy mylotting.

I think I would prefer to have a job rather than start my own business. I guess it would be nice being your own boss but starting a business is very difficult. You have to take care of the electricity bills, the wage payments to employees, the shop rental and the equipment. Not to mention worrying about sales in order to stay in business. When you are employed, you worry only about the daily tasks that are already decided for you. Having my own shop would be nice though. I can sell candy.

I'd love to be self-employed and have my own business, company, hospital, law firm or the likes because that is where money comes in rapidly, but unfortunately I have to be employed by others and find jobs that is suitable in my chosen career, well that is when I finished my schooling. I'm a student-nurse now you see, so I have to apply in different hospitals until they absorbed me in as one of their staff. In addition I also want to work overseas so I can earn and save money faster. When I have earned enough money that is when I will start my own business, more likely in the food industry, cause there lies my interest and passion. That is my plan for now, and I hope I could make it into a realization in the future, maybe ten years from now or less. :)

hello.. i prefer to have my own business cos i can take my time..i have enough time for my self, family, and still having my income at the same time.. there are ups and downs of starting your own business but all you have to do is to attend to all the seminars related to what your business is.being an employer you have fixed income even you did much more of what your job description is.. not like business of your own double your effort and income will be double too.

I've tried both actually and being employed is more dependable but I find it too creatively constricting at times and at times it's too toxic dealing with co-workers. When I started my little business, it was more fulfilling emotionally because I'm an artist of sorts but it really takes a lot of work to get the word out. I like being my own boss though because when it's off season, I can just laze around and do other things so I would be refreshed for the next onslaught of orders and such.

i think being i employ is better.. there are some disadvantages also but they are tolerable.. my main advantage is that you get a fix income at the end of the month or some times you also get bonuses for additional work.. and the disadvantage is that there is a cruel boss at your head who is always pressurizing you..
as far as business is concerned there is a risk.. if i have a shop and some natural disaster comes like flood or tornado etc then i will have no no support.. i personally prefer to get a job.. and its obligatory to study and hard to get a good job and in business luck has to be good :D

well, that is true that parents will send their children to school to land a good job and most of us are afraid to invest into a business for the risk of it. thanks for sharing.

I think it is one of the best topic to discuss.
Almost everyone thinks to have his/her own business. If 1000 people thinks to have own business, only 10 really start implementation, and only 1 gets success.
If you are an employee, you will be getting fix salary and accordingly you can plan. but in business nothing is fixed, you should be active so that you can decide your future.
In early days may be between the age of 20 to 30, everybody should try to settle down and after that may be after 30, when someone is there to support your family financially, you should try to have your own business.

If I have to choose, I want to be an employee rather than employer. There are lost of problems to deal with when you are an employer while an employee will just work and receive salary. But on the other hand it is nice to have our own business even you will not hire employees. Just your own, then there will be no worries of dealing with employees and benefits hahaha just enjoy your own profits.

I would rather have my own business. Running your own business is hard work, but the benefits beat working for someone else any day. When you work for someone else you're making them all the money, they give you only a tiny piece of what you make them, and they will screw with your pay, threaten your position, and talk down to you like you are lower than them. When you work for yourself you are in control, you make the money. You have the ability to go further, and do so much more running your own business. Things you can never do working for someone else.

hii dear friend...Nice to meet you here..My interest is to be employed..Now i am studying..And after completing my studies my interest is to get a good job and to be settled..Why i am telling that i want to be employed is...I saw many of them of my relatives are doing business and they are suffering a lot...Because now a days all busoness are becoming competive..And to surviving by doing business is very sufferable..So that i decided that to be employed,,So as a employ there will be no tensions..And that if we have worth and id we do hard work our job will be standard and we will have the good namein our surroundings..Happy mylotting my dear friend..Have a nice day..

I would love to start my own business instead of waiting for the month to complete so that I can get the salary. Its good to work for own profit. I can put all my efforts to run my business very well and work on my terms, I may not feel a day like working , will not work that day but here on job, working for others, my efforts and others getting benefit of that. We are paid goo dbut not the real paid what our employer is gainign out of our work.
I am waiting for the day when I will have enough money to start my business,
