We all know all of the teachers let us watch movies once in a while when they aren't up to teaching or we have too much free time and are ahead in the curriculum. But are all of the movies shown in school actually exciting or boring? I remember seeing Spiderman 1, many Disney movies and recently in Graphic Design we just saw Disney's Hercules, The Outsiders, and a slew of other movies too. What do you think?

Wow, I am a bit surprised that you are able to watch these kind of movies during class. I remember when I was a kid in school, the only thing that we watched were educational. Mostly we would watch movies about nature or hygeine that I recall. Perhaps we seen a Shakespeare play, but that was usually outside of the classroom, and for extra credit. There again, that wasn't a movie, it was a theatrical play that we actually took a bus trip and went to see. And it was educational. However, there were a few times, in the library (because back then library was actually a class that you took once a week), we did watch a movie or two. The only one that I really remember seeing in Old Yellor'. And to be honest with you, I'm not even sure I remember anything about the movie except this big yellow dog. I do know that everyone now adays talks about had sad of a movie it was. But, I don't even remember that. Perhaps it was so sad that I blacked it out. LOL

Right now i found a lots of movies are good for students, such as Alice in wonderland, Step ups, rock school, etc. i like them.

hi hamid I cannot really help as when I went to grade school all we did was the school subjects and had recess and finally got to go home. but I understand the later generations all got to watch some good, some bad and some so so movies. And as for boring I came from a generation that rarely used that word but now that we have so much at our fingertips if it is not instantly thrilling we groan oh its so boring. so all I can say is boring is in the eyes of the beholder.

Cool response Hatley, I don't usually get bored from movies and I don't get bored easily in general. But some people seem to complain too much, even if they get a break from studies.

Yeah most of them are boring and everyone saw them before and i think that's because they don't exactly buy new ones very often. Same goes for trips with buses. Must have seen "Dunston Checks In" at least 10 times.

I remember seeing the breakfast club when I was in school, I now have it on DVD, so definately enjoyed that. I also remember watching a film about apartheid, cant remember what it was called but it was very interesting. And it was definately worthwhile watching as we were studying at the time. The ones we watched in history were the best as they were usually about what we were studying. I agree though some movies were just boring, usually we would end up watching movies just before the school holidays, when there wasnt much left to learn that year. Some of the movies were disney and were just put on to keep us occupied during the lesson.
