In the past I was much more interested in watching Soccer World Cup. I would even turn on the alarm clock and wake up at midnight to watch it. However, today due to the work and family, I have to say that I have no more energy to watch it. But sometimes if I think the game will be exciting, I will also wake up at night to watch it. But sometimes I am so tired and then fall asleep in the sofa

I love the Soccer game. For this Soccer worldcup i buy a new tv in last month. I fill lucky coz we see all match in night on this worldcup. As per Indian standerd time all match are started after 7 pm in our contry. So it not problem to see a match in midnight. For this days i will adjust. If possible i never missed my favourite match in this world cup

youless,
Since you are from China, I think the first match which kicks off at 12 midnight (+8GMT) should have more viewers and late sleepers - I do not think you would have any problems staying awake, unless you are an early sleeper.
The 2nd match will be quite tough as it will be kicking off at 2.30 a.m.(+8GMT) - I think will be quite tough for the day shift working population in your region and South East Asia regions.
I will usually stay awake for my favorite teams like Brazil, England, Germany and Holland. So, you may see me turn into your country's national treasure soon!
However, I would be in South Africa for the Semis and Finals with my company who has some corporate sponsored tickets where I was successfully balloted.

No problem, youless.
I just thought I'd do some updating here for some members who might be World Cup fans. You can always add some latest news you may have heard and I might have missed out.
Anyway, not imposing on you - so no worries there and I can understand. As for me being in South Africa, I think I am just being second time lucky.

We only have one TV in the apartment, but I do have my iPod, and my radio. I will probably follow the scores on the BBC World Service, the same way I did with the olympics. I don't have the patience to watch the games, but I do enjoy following the scores.

You are as passionate as my friend about the World Cup. My friends also set the alarm clock so that they could wake up on time to watch their favourite match.
I am not so interested in the soccer game. I will watch when my friends visit me or during when we are chatting in the 24hr mamak restaurant.
Most probably I will only watch the final and semi final match.

They are airing the games here early in the morning. When there is a game I want to see, I'll tape it and see it later.

hi youless I would stay up to watch our NBA finals with Kobe Bryant but no I have no soccer knowledge so it would do me no good even if
I could get up and watch it on television. I just am not a soccer
fan but I sure am a national basketball fan.

I like to watch world cup. But I can not see them all. I can choose some of them, I hope I can see the wonderful games, especailly don't wanna miss the matches of my favourite team. It is not easy to guess which team can be the winner of 2010.

World Cup is an important event that happens only once in for years, so it's too precious to pass up. As for me, I am trying to watch every match. However, it takes a lot of energy and stamina to stay up every night. Perhaps, I am going to watch only some big matches or matches that involve big names.

Yes, as you are saying i had done the same thing last time too
but this year it is very different.
i will not be able to watch the matches just because of very tough routine
job plus study and many many more things to do too.
i wish timing of the matches are little better this year..
thanks for the discussion

I will definately be watching the world cup this year. South Africa is in the same time zone as us, England, so the matches are on at a reasonable time 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm i think so i will try and watch as many matches as possible.
