I am trying to learn this 10 finger type method, which is very useful, firstly, because you can type without watching the keyboard and second - it will give you much more speed for typing, which is very important for me, because of this, what I am doing in home. It is very hard for me, but I almost finished with my lessons for the middle row of the keyboard and right location of the hands. Thats why mt keys "F" and "J" are with marks and I can feel them with my index fingers :) This is very hard and long lesson, but I am serious about it and I hope to learn typing without watching keyboard. Even with this 10 finger typing method, your hands will be less tired at the end of the day. I hope to succeed of typing that kind of text after few months training Here is one great place, if you interested of this: http://www.goodtyping.com And there is great FREEWARE software - Stamina 2.5 Happy mylotting, mates

I taught myself how to type and use my left index, right index, right middle, and both thumbs. I type 57 WPM and do not look at the keyboard. I wish I had been taught to type correctly and I may type faster but I self-taught when I was 5-6 and have been typing this way since and I am 19 now. I tried to learn 10 finger typing but, I always revert back to my way. Maybe if I really try one of these days. Good luck!

I could remember our first typing class way back in my high school. It was really fun at the same time frustrating. It was a free class really, and everyone was complaining that it was already the computer era and we're still typing with typewriters! It was actually a good exercise, we were in it for about 2years and we even went to the point of typing blindfolded! It was great for me. Now that it's been a long time ago, I still appreciate that typing class. Now, most of us could type as fast as we could talk and we no longer need to look at the keyboard to do so. It's good to start learning, it's never too late. Most would say that it doesn't really matter how many fingers you use while typing, what matters is that you could type, I beg to disagree, you can never type as fast as someone who has mustered up the positioning of the fingers and the assignment of the fingers to the keys. Good luck!

Hi, I have a few freeware for touch typing. They are all handy. I am downloading Stamina right now. I want to check it out. If it is good enough, I am gonna promote it in my blog too. It is not a long lesson. You can be an excellent typist within 2-3months. It depends on voluntary recall. When you are free just try to recall all the key positions. If possible get an extra keyboard and keep it always with you. Type on it wherever and whenever you can. Typing is just a habit which first starts voluntarily but then slowly becomes spontaneous. Thanks God bless you

Thank you so much of your sharing your activity. I just registered from typing lesson after I read your discussion a few minutes ago. Now I'm back to tell you that I was really enjoying the pressure of practicing my fingers. Maybe I'll set another time to continue my lesson there. I am planning to focus my attention in mylot today and of course with a little bit applying my lesson learned from typing.

I can type without looking in the keyboard. I started to practice during my highschool years. It helps me a lot in typing and I can type faster then ever before. Have patience in practicing and focus on your goal to learn it. Try to type fast as you can.

well if you are a regular blogger or mylot user or you chat regularly then this skills gets embedded in you automatically. i am able to do the 10finger typing without looking at the keyboard from years .. and all credits go to chatting and mmorpg games. mmorpgs games are like dota , ragnarok etc .. in these games you make friends and your character which has skills and stats etc etc .. but while the course of playing the game you have to chat with many people .. you make friends etc..and this improves your typing .. anyways thanks for the link :D

Yes, I love to type and I suppose the professional term for it is touch-typing! I am a touch-typist and I never look at the keys whilst I type away and I use all fingers on all of the keys! I think that this is a very useful skill to have as it means that you can type quite fast and you can get a lot of work done! You also tend to be good in terms of writing letters! I learnt how to type many years ago, when I was about sixteen I think! I attended this Business Administration college and I remember how we had to look at this huge keyboard on the wall in front of us. All the keys would light up on the wall and the small keyboard in front of us well, the keys were painted over so you could not see what letter the key signified. I think it was a fantastic way to learn how to type and I'm grateful for having achieved this skill. I know that there are a lot of free typing lessons online and it involves a bit of a search. With everything going electronic, typing skills are essential in today's day and age. I will check out the link that you have provided. I know of a good site as well and it's called www.learn2type.com I sometimes practise on this site just to hone my skills as it were. Anyway, good luck with your own typing progress. Andrew

It will take no less than three months to master the keys. I am quite fast by now but another thing to focus on is my writer's block.

I used to have a little difficulty typing with all my fingers, but I've always been able to type without looking at the keyboard! :P I learnt how to type with all 10 fingers on the keyboard a few years ago, and I've never really thought it was such a big deal. And staying online for most of the day, on sites like mylot, helps me keep my typing speed up! :)

it's fun to use 10 finger type method. because if you type a lot and you only use several fingers like your index fingers, you will surely feel the stress on these fingers. and as you mentioned, it will also be easier to type most especially if you are trying to type something that you are actually reading because you dont need to look at the keyboard and just concentrate on one thing.

I can remember MANY years ago an aunt of mine paying quite a lot of money to learn 'touch typing'but she never really mastered it. I have learnt to do it just by constant practise and a lot of writing online
