Before we proceed, I want you to read and review the myLot Discussion Guidelines here,
http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx
Now, everyone should be honest to tell here in this post, which of those rules or mylot guidelines have you unintentionally or intentionally violated, honestly?
Have you been following the rules after knowing that you committed violations with your discussions before? Do you really know by this time why you should stop complaining or wondering why your discussions were deleted, or your earnings dropper, and so as your number of posts?
Will you tell other members, the newbies and your prospective referrals to read and study the guidelines before or upon joining?

I have read the rules before and I was surprised that I have broken some of them in past and those were the reasons why my discussion got deleted and I have given my appologies to my friends for not getting benefit from my discussion.
Now, I am not that active on myLot and I hardly start a discussion in a month or so. So, I don't think I have much time to violate those rules, isn't it?

I think I have violated some guidelines unintentionally, about twice or thrice when I first started here in mylot. I didn't really like to read guidelines so I just explored and learned on my own. But now, I try to read once in a while to remind myself on the Do's and Dont's of Mylot. I am more careful now.

that is also one thing i do, to frequently read the rules. if not all, at least the guidelines. so we can be reminded everything we commit mistakes.

I understand your discussion to ask people to comment even if someone else has answered the same way. I personally was intimidated by the FAQ's. It seemed like so much to remember. I just recently began to start discussions after I read others and read comments. I have had 2 active periods. My first I quit because I didn't seem to make income. I also went inactive online for a year due to illness. When I came back I only answered discussions until recently. I have had one discussion deleted, I put my email in it. I have since reread the FAQ's and am less intimidated. I read discussions and usually learn something new each day. I have requested friendship with people who leave intuitive comments. I do not deliberately break the rules, if I break one it is lack of knowledge. I have no down-line, however I would refer them to friends that I trust. I would also go over the FAQ's with them. Will they make mistakes? Yes, none of us is perfect.
My next step is to learn how to increase my interest rating. I have a handle on my star.

i think i did not mentioned the FAQ but only the guidelines. i think it's a bit different but related. but that's okay, at least we learned from our mistakes. i guess the only best way to earn good income here is to be perfectly active as long as you can be.

very good thinking, lakota. why bother thinking a lot of time to analyze what had happened when we can go one to the next?

I went and read them again just like you requested
I follow the rules after tumbling in the past
I never complained though because when I was wrong, I was wrong and they wasn't much point in complaining. I picked up the pieces and was/am determined to get it right and it worked - even better them I could have expected.
I think you know whether I tell others or not I would love to see everyone reading and understanding them and when they can't I try and decipher them into plain everyday language and do my best to help them appreciate the reasons for such guidelines to exist.
We are lucky to have myLot as our playground and get paid for playing here and that is why we should respect them as far as we possibly can in my opinion.

Hello neildc,
before, i have always tend to break the rules of discussion guidelines. and the last discussion that i made in my old account really had done it, which caused my account (old one) to be suspended and deleted later on.
after that i tried following the rules because i don't want to go the same dilemna over and over again although in this 2nd account i have loss a few topics but never in the pahse of loosing my account too.

i have no clear view of what had happened with your first account. but i believe you also learned from your mistakes. and i also believe you won't be doing anything that will cause your present, your second account from ending like your first account again.

I honestly follows the rule after violating it . And I am still a victim of deleted discussion because I replied to some discussion which violated that rules. I am willing to introduce the rules to my referrals before starting to proceed with responsing and posting discussion here. I am now more aware of the discussion I will participate on but sometimes the discussion is still be deleted by the admin.

Yes I had I done that to one of this newbie, I was just concerned that I see his discussion or I mean all of his discussion have been deleted because it is a one liner. He told me that I am not concern maybe I am just accusing him of bending the rules, i even told him to read the rules before posting but he did not reply after. Maybe he thought I am old in this forum that is why I have the right of correct him whatsoever. But for real, I am just concern so that he will lose his earnings if he keeps on doing that. Yeah it is like their impression on us is being rude. To clear it, not all newbies are like that.

just like you and the others who are what we call the old time mylotters, i too am receiving notifications of deleted answers. That's simply because we are trapped once in a while in responding to discussions with clear violations which we cannot ignore to give our reminders/comments to creator of the said discussion. I just hope they won't take our concerns negatively. Have you tried giving advise to newbies like that, and you were treated as being rude to them? Well, i was, just yesterday.

Posted a poll, posted a pretty meaningless discussion, used a bad, bad word intentionally in a discussion.

Why is this an issue for you? I have always tried to follow the guidelines. I do fall short in checking to see if there are other discussions of the same topic before I start one. I have never had a discussion deleted that I recall. I am wondering what issues you are seeing that made you start this discussion--??

Hi neildc,
No one reads FAQ or guidelines when he or she joins. I too didnt read because i came here from yahoo answers and i thought guidelines would be same and i had know all attitude till my discussions got delelted. I Didnt chk in begining why my score has gone down..i thought oh may be they credited few cents extra to my account but when it happened regularly then i thought wait man whats wrong so i read the guidelines and it says you wont post jokes as discussions. Since then i try to not violate the guidelines because it is not my site it is site of mylot admin so we got to follow their rules. But may be i might have broken some rule after that but not knowingly.

so you are probably a joker, right?
well, one good thing about mylot is, we learn not only from our mistakes, but also from the people around us here. just like you have said, almost everyone came here without reading the guidelines. but people, the members here guided us to the rules, for us to realize where we committed our mistakes, and so on.

not all sites have the same terms, rules and guidelines. and yes, mylot have their own rules that we should follow.

I think each topic has it's own merits. If we start taking time to search for existing "like" topics we've lost the edge on what we ourselves were looking for in the first place.
I want creative, individual responses to my discussion.
Yes, I broke the guidelines a few times but mostly my responses have been deleted for someone else asking a dumb question.....and tried to answer it by telling them they should not do that...............
I think we should feel free to ask or tell what is important to us as individuals and not worry about what Joe or Jane asked.............we need our own responses as our values are different.
Period.

Those discussions that came up with quizzes and riddles which I had responded were deleted. I still cannot find the rule that is against quizzes and riddles. One more response I remember was deleted was the one that reported it intentionally misunderstood it just to get sympathy from users. I could have easily set matters right but getting back with that person would have been worse than getting a few responses deleted!!! I cannot say that I will score hundred marks when it comes to reading the guidelines but my policy is 'when in doubt leave it out'!

Maybe you missed these two line in the Guidelines?
'- Don't Post jokes, recipes, etc. as discussions. This is a form of abuse and all recipes and jokes will be deleted if they are started as a discussion.
- Don't Start game and poll type discussions. For example, discussions like “How old are you” or “Let’s see how high we can count, I’ll start with one”
http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx
Quizzes and riddles are the same as games and leave little, if anything, to discuss.
'Etc,' also includes poems, limericks and many more.
We should try and start a topic where there is something to discuss and not just something to resolve which requires a specific answer.

"One more response I remember was deleted was the one that reported it intentionally misunderstood it just to get sympathy from users. "
I don't think a discussion would be deleted because of a misunderstanding. There must be guideline violations or possibly against ToU.

About time someone bring this up for a topic.
To be perfectly honest, when I first joined, I violate the guideline - the one I remember is asking a question which is already answered in the FAQs. There may be others, but I don't think there will be many.
I am careful not to break the rules or violate the guidelines. And I always always tell the other members if they violate the guidelines or ask a question already answered in the FAQs.
Since I haven't had much luck in getting referrals, I haven't had the opportunity to tell them. (Honestly, I have 3 referrals, none of them are active. Two with 0 post, and one with 5 posts)
I do understand that it is a bit overwhelming when you first joined, but it is not rocket science. I would never intentionally break the rules or violate the guidelines.

I have not been informed that I have violated any discussion rules. If I was informed of that happening I would make sure not to do it again. I am one of those people that feel like rules are rules, even if I don't agree with them.

I've only had two semi-active referrals who have since stopped altogether but I did give them suggestions about posting when they first joined. I also told them to read the guidelines because if they violated any of them, their discussions would be deleted and they'd lose the money they had made.
Me, personally, I've had a couple of discussions deleted. One I could understand because I was relatively new and forgot about this one guideline violation. The other, though, I was very surprised when it was deleted. It was called a "milestone" discussion. It was about winning a contest but I never would have called it a milestone! After all, I hadn't been wanting to achieve this my entire life or anything. I thought a milestone was something you achieved, then surpassed. I had no intention of even trying to "surpass" winning this contest. I wouldn't even know how! But, it was called a violation here so I have to respect that. I will never write about winning anything again in the open discussions.
So, neil, how are you and the family doing? It's been awhile! I'm still as busy as ever but loving it because the majority of my time is spent outside in my garden (or sleeping because of getting exhausted from doing so much gardening... lol).

hi marti. i also have a few semi-active referrals and i want them to know about the rules. of course, in every community, there is always a rule to follow. so everyone of us here should know about them, understand and follow them.
i know i remember that discussion about your winning in the contest. i remember i was reading the discussion from my email and when i wanted to respond to it, it was already gone.
i know it has been a while that we haven't communicated, talked about ourselves. and i missed that. i miss you, dear. personally, i am okay. i am getting a lot of new work loads but the salary still remains the same. our main office is having a new project and it's initially launching it, outside metro manila, with our office. i got the work of systems administrator. i am happy about that but it is just another load to my job, being the in-charge of the database, the reporting, in addition to my job as the cashier.
they told us that they have already sent to the concerned agency, positions to be created for our office and other field offices under the department. it has been a long time, they said, and it is stocked at the budget department for approval. i wish to get one good position higher than what i hold at this present.
my only drawback is my eligibility which is only sub-professional. i planned to take another civil service test this coming october. i failed the same text about two years ago. i need to pass this and get a professional, so i can be eligible to hold higher positions, which only means higher salary.
we are going to see the doctor again this month, though we haven't scheduled the date yet. the six month medication had just ended for zayzay. i will let you know the results of the check-up then.
please keep in touch. and don't get yourself too tired with your garden, though i know that is what you loved most doing.

I’ve had some discussions deleted at the beginning of my membership here because I admit I did not read the guidelines as I should have. The first post I lost was one asking others to check my blog out and let me know what they thought. I posted the link and although it was not a referral link, it was still a big no no!
Another deletion was when I started a discussion and made the mistake to finish with “Who wants to play? “ which made it sound like a game, another big no no! This happened two years and I have since read the guidelines more than once and I am very much aware if what the rules are!

i too will admit that i did not read the guidelines when i joined, but i cannot remember a post of mine got deleted. of course, there were those responses and comments. it's a good thing we have this guidelines and the rules always available within the site, if we commit mistakes, so we can re-read and re-assess ourselves.
