Wish I could Take Them In...but I can't

A friend of mine called me today. He wanted me to take in his 2 Boston terriers male and female. He bought them and plan to really take care of them but since his boss is assigning him to another place, quite a remote area where there is no vet and no dog food available he decided to just have them adopted and he came to me.
I love Boston terriers and I think they are cute. I really so wanted to take them in but I know better than to say yes. I already have 4 dogs (1 in training school and 3 are coming in) and that is way too much work already and frankly speaking I have to think about food and medical expenses since Boston terriers do have some special needs. So I said no even when it broke my heart. However what I did was call up some friends and then a friend who lives about an hour away was happy to adopt the two terriers. She can more than provide them a good home. I guess all ends well and I was glad.

Yes, it is good you found them homes, so I wouldn't worry about not being able to take them yourself..Too many pets are made to go to the shelter when homes are not found..I was fortunate with our White Shepherd when we couldn't keep her anymore..Though we ended up taking her to the shelter, a "save the white shepherd" group came in and saved her..She is across the country, but in a happy home..:)

I know what you mean..Both my daughter and I wanted to run a kill free animal center and take in all the strays..Obviously this was a childhood dream, one that is not possible, but we do the best we can with what we got..

I am glad your dog is now in a good home. I hate to see abandoned dogs on the street sick and smelly. If I were as rich as Paris Hilton I would have put made an animal shelter already that is non profit. I am glad too that those terriers have found a new momma lol with a fat wallet and loves dogs loads. Makes me wanna be a dog too! Lucky dogs!

Too bad. You could make a fortune in breeding them. You should tell your friend to breed them, and then sell the pups.

I know how people think about getting profit, that's not bad. However my concern is giving the dogs a good home and them not ending up on the streets as there are too many abandoned dogs now that needs help. And that is one of my advocacy in my city.

I know, I don't really agree with using animals to breed for profit, it was just an idea. I have what people would call irregular beliefs about pets, as in I don't think we should have them for pets. To me it is kind of like playing with your food.

That's wonderful that you helped him find a good home for the two dogs! And since you are a friend, you can visit them. How cool!

thanks for stopping by karen. Yes I could drop by once in awhile to see how they are doing. I can also arrange occasional play dates and that would be lovely.

you are right.the expenses turely be the biggest problem.it will take you much time and money to take good care of a best dog.haha,i think you are lucky and clever that you've found another friend who would like to adopt them.i love the two terriers though i've never seen and heard them before.even they are male and female.ahaha, they must be very lovely.

Hi Jugs,
I am glad as well. I would have been heart broken if the poor babies were left on the street or given to someone who do not have the capacity to give them a good home. I look forward to the trips on some weekends my friend and I can bond and at the same time my dogs can be introduced to other playmates.

That's good you found them a home. And you can't feel too bad as you know your limitations and you can always visit the two terriers since they are going with a friend and check up on them as well.
