Yep, me.. the no cook just learned how to make my own salsa and boy is it good! It's fresh and I can control the amount of salt (if any) that I add! I can't believe it's so simple to do. I just need to find the right kind of tomatoes to use! Which kind of tomato am I supposed to use in it? I think I need a real meaty one. Any help?

That's wonderful! I have been wanting to make my own salsa and still haven't. Maybe I'll make that this weekend. I would think a tomato like beefstock would be good since they are more hearty and bigger. What else did you use in your recipe? Maybe you would like some mango in it too. I buy a mango salsa from the grocery store and it is wonderful.

Sounds delicious. Maybe you could jar it up and sell it online.

Well, one thing about it, if you like mango (or anything else in it) you can add it to taste! I also put cilantro and jalapenos, onion and a clove of garlic. And a little salt to taste.

I have no idea really, but perhaps beef tomatoes or plum tomatoes, canned may be better. Please post the recipe I am so interested!! And do let me know haow it turns out. Perhaps some photos if you are feeling adventurous!?

I may post some pics later. Basically I put tomatoes, some onion, a clove of garlic, fresh cilantro, and jalapenos to taste. Leave the seeds out if you don't want it hot! Then add a touch of salt depending on how much you like. I blend all that together and munch away!!

There are many kinds of salsa. I've made only two of them, one a tomato based and the other mango. For the tomato based, I use whatever kind of tomato I have around, red onion, mild green chiles, cilantro and lime juice, salt and pepper. I like the fresh tomato kind, but you could oven roast the tomatoes just as well, and they would be meaty and juicier, especially if you used roma tomatoes.

A roma tomato works the best, they are meatier and make a thicker sauce than other tomatoes. They are bell shaped, and the brand makes a difference in size. The amish roma is quite large, while other roma's are medium sized.
