Have you ever gone shopping in your slippers?

This still bugs me when I go to the store and I see people in their slippers at the grocery store! It's not like they were loafer style but this lady was toting big fluffy baby blue slippers at the grocery store this morning. Nonetheless some of the college girls @ work wear the ones that look like loafers w/ fake fur insides+trim What do you think of this? I know I'll go to my mail box in them but I dunno that I'd go out shopping or wear them to work. I just wouldn't find them that comfy to wear that long. But I guess to each their own!

I think it's super tacky! Outside of your property lines where more than the neighbors can see... HECK NO! It's something expected in other areas not here.

Yes, to each their own. I live near a mall/supermarket, so I usually go there wearing flip flops or slippers. I never mind much about it, but I never used one while at work. For me, I find it comfy and relaxing. After a long day at work, I would love to rest my feet by wearing slippers.

Sorry, I knew I missed something and would just like to add so to make it clear. I don't wear fancy slippers, just hope that others do find it soothing for their feet.:)

the roomie wears slippers but they aren't the big fluffy ones, they are the men's slippers anyway - only the largest of the men's fit her big feet! so they are more like a loafer with soft bottoms and sides

i wear rubber flip flops going to school and work, if allowed. i wear them most of the times going out because they're more comfortable than wearing shoes. otherwise, i'd wear sneakers. about fluffy slippers though, i think i can only wear those around our neighborhood, nowhere that will require me a ride to be there.

Okay, I have never gone shopping in my slippers, but I did forget I was wearing slippers and went to my physiotherapy appointment with them on. I was so embarrassed that I got my wife to drive from home to where I was with a pair of sneakers. How could anyone purposely wear them out shopping? Makes no sense to me, no support, does not look good, just comfy, but then again so is a old pair of sneakers, except they look better and offer support.

Your comment reminds me that I once went to work wearing flip flops cause my floors were cold and I was in a rush to get out the door and didn't even notice my shoes. If I would of lived closer I would of gone home on my lunch to get a proper pair of shoes. Oh well... life rolls one eh?

I wear flip flops because here in our place it is so hot but those you mentioned earlier, the loafers? I think it's pretty odd to use that hmm maybe it's the new trend now? i guess.

But of course. I am known for doing yard work and gardening in them as well. In fact I just picked a lot of strawberries in my slippers. But mine are just plain brown ones. If I wore the fancy ones, well.......HAH!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

No, I've never gone shopping in my slippers. I don't feel comfortable doing that sort of thing. Some people might do it, but I'm just not one of them. It's something that I'm used to doing.

Uh no I have never gone to the store in my slippers and I never would. I think people who do are just lazy. Now if someone had some kind of surgery to their foot then I would say sure, wear the slippers out if you have too. While we're on the topic, what about people that wear their pajama bottoms to the store? This really irks me too.

Only to the store!?!? We have parents who drop their kids off in pj bottoms... WTH is wrong with that picture?!?! I thought you wanted the teachers and their classmates to see you as being respectable not the other way around. The only person who's gone to school in their pj's are my kids when they were infants/toddler in winter (they were bundled up, so who would know & they couldn't walk at the time either)

well, it depends on what kind of slippers are! as they are the stylish slippers that everyone mostly buys them here and I myself would wear them too as they..but I would never use to wear the normal slipper that one that is supposed to be for home or for the back yard for shopping!! I have a friend who would use the same slipper that is supposed to be for the house work to go out shopping! though she is rich enough but she just does't like to show off! she doesn't like to buy a particular slipper for shopping as she doesn't want to show that she has money!! although, buying a stylish slipper would only cost few dollars!

Oops i'm really so sorry for posting such a jumbled comment!! I don't know how it happened..it seems my mind speaks faster than my writing What I was trying to say is that, I don't like to shop out wearing the same slipper that is assigned to be for house work! there are so many stylish slippers that could be wore out for serious outing.. my friend who comes from a rich family doesn't bother to wear the same used slipper in and out the house!! she has no problems with that though the stylish sleepers are every where available and very much affordable to everyone though..

I think it's tacky and lazy, same with wearing pajamas to the store. It takes no more time to throw on a pair of actual pants and real shoes. There's a whole 'movement' about embracing being a slob - it has a fancy name but I've forgot what it is - because 'real' women are just too busy to put on clothes when they leave the house. No thanks, I'll never be THAT busy.

Never heard of the term. Hmm.... learn something new everyday. Yeah I bet if you showed up for a job interview as a "shlumpadinka" you sure as heck won't be getting that job. I'm only too busy if I'm sick but then that's just a trip to a mail box or take trash out. Again I'm not leaving the property.

No, I would just feel uncomfortable and weird wearing my slippers outside and in a public place. I have seen some people walk outside bare foot. I don't know how they would feel about that. I would be afraid of getting cut or hurt by the little stones or pebbles. I guess people that walk around in their slippers are in a hurry to get something.

i did, and many, many times... what's wrong with shopping in slippers when it's comfortable and more convenient to roam around a huge mall in slippers... even in groceries, which are also huge and large... besides, nobody would bother to see whether you're wearing a slipper or not, so long as you don't do your grocery or shopping without any clothes on... only a pair of slippers...

i go to the supermarket wearing flip flops for i find it more comfortable than wearing shoes. especially if you have to stand in long lines you better wear your most comfortable foot wear. however, your slippers should be presentable. and you have to make sure that your toe nails look great before you expose them to public eye. :)

I don't care if anyone thinks I'm judgmental when I say this. Unless slippers are the only shoes one owns, or there is a serious foot problem going on, slippers should not be worn anywhere outside the house and front yard. I used to see women go around with picks in the back of their hair where I lived, or curlers still in them. It's tacky. Does that make a person bad? Of course not. But it's just unattractive and tacky.

If I go somewhere where I don't have to get out of my car, like the Starbucks drive-thru, I might wear my slippers. But, no...I don't go shopping in them. It seems inappropriate to me. About 10 or 11 years ago, I did got to Blockbuster later in the evening, probably just before closing, in my pajamas, to pick out a movie. They were a pair of pajama pants and a t-shirt. The decision to go to Blockbuster was last minute and I had already gotten into my PJs. It really was so close to closing that I was concerned that if I changed into something more public worthy, we wouldn't get to Blockbuster in time to rent a movie. My PJs weren't risque or anything. They were baggy and not at all flattering and some other girls at Blockbuster were laughing at me. I would never do that again. I was maybe 26 or 27 years old back then. Not that that is an excuse. But, I guess I just didn't care what anyone at Blockbuster at that time of night might think about me. I wouldn't dress like that for work. Never have and never will. I wouldn't even have gone to school like that when I was younger. It was mostly just a spur of the moment snap decision to walk out of our apartment like that. I have seen other people in their PJs and slippers at the grocery store, department stores and even the mall. A lot of teenagers go out looking like they literally just rolled out of bed.

Fifty years ago when flip flops were for around the house and for the beach only. Wearing them anywhere else was a no-no, I had to wear a pair to church. This was when ladies dressed up for church with high heels, hose, hats and gloves. However, I was expecting our first child, and the flip flops were the only footwear I could get on my swollen feet. I hope that bedroom slippers will not become the next flip flop.

I have never done this myself. i am all about having a pair of shoes on. My late husbannd used to go to the store all of the time with only his slippers. I used to make fun of him for it. He always said he wasn't shopping to impress anyone. And he was right. He just wanted to be comfortable.

Well, I wouldn't go out to the shops in my slippers, but I do wear them in the garden or outside the front putting the recycling out to be collected. I don't think it's a problem if people wear slippers while they are shopping though, it's up to them.
