Gaga for Gaga?

It is interesting in this world we live in to see someone so bizarre and strange become such a massive success in the music world for both her music and videos. Lady Gaga takes the strange and unthinkable and does them in front of everyone who watches. Her music is for the most part upbeat modern club dance songs while others are slower lounge-like songs. Lady Gaga took "freak" and made it cool, took "weird" and made it seem normal. Lady Gaga is breaking boundries and inspiring diversity among the masses- or is she? I pose this question because there are many mixed views on Lady Gaga and I want to know what you all think. I listed my opinion in the paragraph above. However with someone so different opinions will and are varying. So let me know what you think on this rather Gaga topic.

I was a punkette in the 70's when the pistols hit the scene and to me Lady Gaga is just as entertaining, she wears clothes I have seen before on punks in that day but it was more shocking then. Her music is very much pop music like Madonna and her make-up is also punkish. I really would like to see someone do something different in the music world as most of it has already been done if you look back in time Lady Gaga is not much different that the punks of the 1970's dress wise.

That is an extremely interesting viewpoint. I always thought of her as a modern day madonna but I never really made the connection between her and punk until you said that. Which is a nice comparison for me as I absolutely adore the pistols and good punk.

I agree but then again as history has shown time and time again we usually pull styles from the past and mix in some kind of new flair. Like the rattin of the hair back in the sixties is now coming back but also being dyed to extremes and being labled as scene lol. Its all in the cards, before we move forward we must first pick up the past and bring it with us.

That is an astounding quote and it is true most new and innovative styles are stles brought back from the past and modified. Which I think is a good thing as styles from the past were wonderful.

i don't know whether i will like lady gaga's style or no..but i only know one thing..lady gaga knows how to party..and i love her songs..specially the "bad romance.." i've watched a couple of her video interviews and she seems to be a nice person too..if she wants to express herself like that, we don't have the right to questioned it..everyone has the right to self-expression..

if her weird fashion style is just a marketing strategy..then it's working just right!

Hi carlyn ganda: Definetly. There's no doubt that Lady Gaga really knows how to party. Her music is simply awesome, she's a great musician but I think that part of her commercial success is thanks to these weird fashion styles and that she once said that she was an hermaphrodyte . Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

I agree if it was a marketing strategy then she has done it will regardless if it is strategy or not it adds to her as an artist. She is expressing art with her music and with music videos appearance adds to what she desires to portray. She is very abstract.

She certainly has made her mark. And in such a short time. I just don't know how long being provocative will keep her in the spotlight.

I think Britney Spears and believe that it will keep her there a long time :)

Being a musician I absolutely hate seeing artists such as Lady Gaga and any other artist that MTV seems to crap out. A lot of the artists on the radio and on television that is broadcasted to the mainstream don't write their own music, make their own beats, and a lot of them have no real message. Also a lot of them sound all the same and like rip offs or copies of each other. Two other artists that I completely can't stand are Lil' Wayne and Justin Bieber. I don't really think either of them have very much talent at all and I wish that modern society had better music out there to entertain them because most people aren't looking for music they just listen to whatever they happen to here. In life I've noticed that the music you listen to really decides who you are as a person. I feel the more unique and technical music that you can find will help you to evolve, but most importantly when you start to find the music that you truly enjoy you also begin to find yourself more.

In the past I didn't know Lady Gaga at all, until one day I learned her news from my friend. My friend likes her. Then I pay attention to this celebrity. I have to say that most of her looks are quite outstanding and extraordinary. She seems to be the fashion icon because we will never understand why she will dress up like that. You can find many news about her everyday. One day I watched her MTV of Bad Romance and I liked it. This is the only one song I like from her so far. I love China

Hi yumakutsuu: I won't judge Lady Gaga. I think she made great music but at the same time I think he has built her name for doing things that are bizarre, she wears clothes that are so insane. I think that she always want to call for our attention with provocations and making performance that are weird. I think she's an artist but I don't like that she overact on her performance. Thanks for starting this discussion. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

I first have to voice my stand that I have been a lady gaga fan since I first heard her on the radio, no idea what she looked like, just straight up loved her music. Then about 3 months later I saw her on mtv... yeah i live under a rock shush... and I finally saw what all the commotion was about. I have to say though I thought it was mighty fierce. Like I admit some things are just a little over the top, but at least she is enjoying herself, its not like she slaughters babies or commits animal sacrifices while whispering the name of Satan backwards in Hebrew. I think she works it as a performer should. Those things we call stars, they aren't human. Lady gaga is coming out of the alien closet proud of her calling in life. I commend her for that
