I am 19 years old Im married I have a 2 year old and 1 on the way. I wanted to get my tubes tied after this baby and they told me the law is that you have to be 21 years old. How many kids do these people want us to have? I think since this would be my 2nd i should be able to get "fixed". What is your opinion?

Ask for birth control that lasts for a few years so you can have some more time to think about it. My best friend had her tubes tied when she thought she didn't want any more children but now she's been going under all kinds of treatments for 3 years to try to get pregnant again. You might think now that you won't want anymore children but you are a woman and as you know, it's in our nature to change our minds all the time. I had a birth control thing (sorry I never knew the English name for it) inserted and it lasts for 5 years and I can have it removed whenever I want. There are no pills to remember and no worries. Ask your doctor what options you have of semi-permanent birth control before you take this step.

I wouldnt get it done if I had to do over again. I got my tubes tied and then later regretted it along with many others you can read about on this website. http://www.blessedarrows.org/ they helped raise money to untie mine.

Honestly I think it's wise for this law - who knows how you'll feel down the road - it could be a decision you might end up regretting. I know you're married, a mother and probably very responsible, but I know that when I was 19 a lot of the things I thought I would want and that would be best for me are things I'm glad I waited to decide on. I'm only 27 now but even in the last 5 years as I've grown older everything I thought I knew about myself and life has changed. I know it might not make sense now and I understand how the law may seem ridiculous but wouldn't you rather take the chance that you might change your mind someday and just use birth control or protetcion instead? It could save you a lot of heartache and money down the road!

I've heard that too,but as long as its not permanent they should let you.And just having your tubes tied is not permanent.

Where do you live? I don't know about the laws where you are, but I've heard that it usually depends on the doctor. Some like to make it incredibly difficult to get a tubal or will flat-out say no. --- --- --- "I certainly think Britney Spears is the devil.
