Are you being yourself

My son is born under the chinese year of the sheep and he has is the kind of person who if you suggest something to him he will do it without thinking, much like a sheep following the crowd. I am always telling him to be himself but am wondering if he really knows who he is. Do you know who your true self is, do you do your own thing or follow others or do what the majority of the population do? we are taught from an early age to fit in, wear the same clothes, eat the same things, work hard, go on holiday, watch televisio, save up, get married, have children ect. These are all things society teaches us to do the same as everyone,to conform. Are you livig your life in an alternate way ?. when I was young I travelled around the county in a caravan, working on farms, living freely without the bills of a house, my children were taught at home and didn't go to school and we had a happier simple life less stressful than I have now. What do you do that makes you individual to others?
