This whole week, I'm really down and I'm looking forward this new week for a change. It seems that the whole week is a draggg... I only want to wake up and move because I need to work (I must really love my work) without work I don't even think I would bother moving... I even have to blast my music so that I can have some energy, listening to Airplanes, Nothing on You and Solo each and everyday for the whole week really helped me a lot. I even went to the mall, watched a movie and bought myself a shirt and still nothing... It's just that I feel empty. :( Do you guys feel this way sometimes? How do you cheer your self up?

When I feel down I just take some quiet time and rest. Making little demands or expectations on myself. I don't make commitments for anything that will stress me out. Lately I have been doing lots of gardening. That really helps me think and clear my head. I take regular walks everyday to prepare for my marathon. I think that with preparing for the marathon I am also helping with the Leukemia & Lymphoma society gives me a chance to focus on other things besides my own issues.

Sometimes, I feel alike. Movie, shopping, did you do that all alone? If you do,that's too bad. Find someone to talk to and tell he or her your feeling. And what's more effecient is that you should do sth. unusual, such as take a different way to home, or a dish that you never tried. If it's bad ,you 'll know your normal life is not the worst, if it feels good, it's good. :-)

Usually when I'm down, I talk to a good friend that I know can cheer me up. If that doesn't work and I need some alone time, I just listen to music to calm myself down. Sometimes I eat something sweet and cold to help me get happy. I love ice cream! I also dance to keep my mid off of things. Playing video games helps too.

Since I decided to just stay at home to take care of my baby, things had change. It's not that I don't enjoy my stay at home it's just that maybe i miss going out. I miss working and dealing with my workmate, so for the past few months I've been depressed. Isn't it ironic that when I was still working I'm depressed because I don't have much time with my daughter and now that I have all the time in the world to spend with her I'm still feeling down. Maybe I'm just having a hard time dealing with changing diapers and cleaning the house and I kinda lost time for myself, so i decided to shake it off. I started to exercise, right now I'm into hip hop abs and it felt so great. I also read books whenever my baby is sleeping. Sometimes whenever my baby is sleeping I also nap with her in the afternoon. What helped me with this depression is also God, It's been a long time since I'm not going to church but last Sunday I decided to go to church and it gave a sense of joy. I also went to the mall and bought two books, one bag and accessories.I'm also into Mylot and responding to different discussions here lightened up my day...

As a Zen practitioner, I have recognized that life is a little like a roller-coaster. One day there can be great happiness and the next I can feel pretty down. This I believe has a lot to do with karma - what has happened before in life. A similar scene or situation can trigger an emotional response that comes from the subconscious mind and we may be left wondering why we are feeling low.
I pracice meditation at the start of every day, and this is a great way of centering myself and calming my mind. I then begin to learn a lot about how I have got my karma put together - but I recognize that this method is not for everyone. _Derek

Thank you Hayley.. Yes I agree that each of us needs to experiment with what is best for us when it comes to meditation. Mindfulness is something that is very beneficial and I find it is a sort of extension of meditation into everyday activity focusing our mind totally on each task we do, can produce a calmness of mind, even if we are very active. I hope you enjoy your mindfulness class in September. _Derek

I've found that keeping a journal really helps with cheering myself up. Sometimes its just good to vent without consequence. Of course it is good to communicate with people, but sometimes its good to let out our raw and unfiltered thoughts/emotions.
Playing guitar and singing also helps me, but that requires the proper environment lol.

Thank you! You are right, maybe it will help me if I can write down all what I am feeling in my journal. I haven't written in them in weeks. Thanks for sharing. :)

What I do when feeling a bit down (which thankfully is very rare) I do stuff that makes me happy. Like reading a good book, watching a funny movie, writing poetry, make candles, play upbeat music while writing on mylot. Maybe you are not eating correctly and that is causing a chemical inbalance in your system that is making you feel this way. I hope you snap out of it soon and feel happy and alive once again.

Hi santos mari chris: Even if I don't have many reasons for feeling down these days, I can tell you that, when I feel down or depressed I generally go and comfort me with food: chocolates, fast food, etc. I know this is not the best decition but it makes me calm down. I think I'm a little childish at this point. If things are not going good, I try to make me feel good with food. Thanks for asking us this question. Have a nice day.

Hi rohan: I think that having a time for ourselves, to meditate what's the reason why we feel down it's a wise way to calm down and be ourselves again. As you can see I'm not good at this point, negative things affect me so bad. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day.

A silent prayer. Short, simple, meaningful. Whispered from the heart. A good quote, a good saying. Short, simple, meaningful but slaps me hard on my face. And a good hot coffee!

It's hard when you pray and pray and don't seem to be getting an answer. I always love to meditate on the simple scripture, "Be still and know that I am God." Somehow that always makes me feel better.

When Iam down I i let it out sometime in tears which is good for the soul, because if you dont let yourself cry then you hold in to much that you cant handle. Sometime you might just need to talk a walk on the beach and then write down your thoughts of what could be wrong. and if it something that you can't handle then you need to talk to god and ask him to fulfill your emptyness. its alot that we would like to be different, but we cant change it all we can do is move on and live to the best of our knowledge because there is no telling when we are next to be called to go see the lord. So I would recommend that you have time to yourself and dont spend any money because all you are fulfilling it the material need at that time.

When I am down I simply call or text all my close friends and start our drinking session until I got drank and sleep the whole night and maybe until tomorrow night. I always did this when my mind need to be recharge. I sleep the whole day listen heavy metal music. I felt recharge and all things that make me down will turn away from myself.

Hello Marichris! I think you should need a boyfriend hehe... Or do u already have?
You have to have someone to look forward to everyday... But if you don't want that you better be off alone, well then see and go out with your friends once in a while... Or read a book with your favorite author... Or watch TV series like Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy or 24 (starting from Season 1) ... Or if your not into watching TV series then you better read and reply discussions here in myLot...
Those suggestions I gave you...that's what I do if I have no work...hehe...

The best thing I do when I feel down is to sleep. When I wake up I usually feel better. Other than sleeping I play my favorite PC game, DotA or Defense of the Ancients. It really cheer me up. I sometimes just eat chocolates. And I just think that everything will be just fine in the end.

Yes, sleeping is a good idea, I agree! It gives you energy and gives you the opportunity to get a break from it all, so it definately helps. So try to get some more sleep when you are down maybe?

Thank God for the gift of music. I just have to sing a song or two and I'm ok. I belt out high notes to release my negative feelings... then I feel ok afterwards.

My friend, what you need to do is TAKE A BREAK. Take time to relax, sleep, and maybe even take a vacation if you can. Your mind and body does not only need it but YOU DESERVE IT!!! To cheer up myself I would free myself from all things that brings me down, try to enjoy living your life. I go to a bar with friends or watch funny movies with my family. Sometimes I also go to the beach and just drink untill I got drunk, and when you wake up you feel relief. It also helps to cheer you up when you smile, laugh it off!! the key here is to release tension...
