I am not. I don't know how to budget like others do. I just spend money when I have, pay the bills we have and if I have no more money? I will stop spending. Then when I told my husband, I have no more money he would just said... why you keep on spending your money? Oh!! how I wish I know how to budget like others do. They can stretch out their money and be able to have savings from it. I don't know how to do that. Can you share? I am eager to have idea how to do it.

The good budgeting will saves your money. For budgeting, you wants to calculate your earnings monthly and calculate your spending that month. If the earnings are less than spending you must find out other ways to increase money. create a list for the spending money, try to reduces the spending by changing or avoiding some hobbies.

I would say when your income is higher as it sounds like it fluxuates... then pay ahead on some of your bills so when times are not as good you have one less bill to worry about. Many companies let you pay ahead / overpay your bills.

i can say i am... for me it is very simple... i just don't spend money unnecessarily and i just spend money on the things that i really need... also, i calculate my money really tight and make sure that i don't spend more than what i earn... that's all i do to make sure that i don't overspend and left with no money or savings... take care and have a nice day...

Well, I' learning. Before, i mismanaged my credit card. My expenses is bigger compared to my earnings. Since then, I really try my best to hold on to myself not to buy things I don't need. The best tip I can share is:
When you get your salary, deposit part of it to your savings account and think that the money left for you is the money you are holding right now. Do not think about the money you deposited in your savings account. Now, keep your ATM Card. Do not bring it or put in your wallet. This is very effective. Trust me. :)

Oh? good idea. I will try my best not to bring my card when I go out. But the problem is, we are not having cash all the time. We are using debit card. We don't have credit card but debit card. So, our money is in the bank but all the time we made purchase we used or debit card and that's why our money in the bank will be gone unnoticed sometimes.

I plan to do some shopping budget purposes the most important family and is the primary requirement only. I know it is hard to raise money, so I will be careful in doing the shopping.
I did a calculation of the expenditure and income and as much as possible I will set aside a minimum of two quarters of the monthly salary for savings, because if it was not my doing, my money would be spent on unnecessary spending.

I do make a budget every once in a while, but not in a regular basis, more like if I need to make a savings plan or if I know I have a difficult month (financially) ahead of me or something like that.
If I need to stick to a budget, I can do it, because then I usually have a goal to reach, which motivates me. But as I said, I do not do it on a regular basis, so maybe I am not that good at it after all?

Yes, I think I am good at budgeting though I wouldn’t want to brag about it. I go about it this way…at the start of every month, hubby gives me the money for the entire month. I divide the money according to different expenditure heads…I have an idea of how much the average electricity bill, phone bill, internet bill etc is likely to be (almost the same every month) so I keep away money for that…regarding groceries, I divide the money on a weekly basis so I know exactly how much I’m spending each week. While shopping, I always make a list of things to buy and how much they should cost me, so again before entering the shop, I know exactly how much I’m going to spend. At the end of each shopping and at the end of each week, I see how much change I’ve have left and I put that away…believe me, it comes to a neat sum at the end of the entire month.
However, the inspiration to make a budget and stick to it, will have to come from within yourself.

I know how to budget it but my spouse is the one with little self control or regard. I give him so much a week to spend for gas and cigs. He things because the cost of cigs went up he deserves more but we can't afford more. Same with his spending at the cafeteria + vending machines at work. I go w/o otherwise we'd be up the creek w/o a paddle and in super big money troubles. Though I don't know how much I can say since he's the only one working full time.
To do a budget you need a calendar & a spread sheet. Write on the calendar when your pay days are and when each bill is due. Now if you have a large bill like a mortgage/rent you may want to divide that by several pay checks (so it's not too hard on your wallet to come up with such a large amount at once). So what I do is take the carried over balance + pay = ? - 1/4 (I do mine by 4 weeks, sometimes 3) of my mortgage - bill - bill - ? - ? = whatever you have for spending money. And once you know when each of your bills come you can use the spread sheet to show what money you need each pay period and for what bill.

Oh? that's a good idea. Many times, me and hubby think of sitting down to make a budget but we were not able to do it. I am the one keeping the check book but he is the one who spends the money a lot because of his business. Though he has a business account but he usually use our checking account for his gas and other materials he need.

Well I do! I don't have a choice I didn't know how I might have starved, lol. When I was growing up (I lived with my Aunt), my Aunt would give us (the children) money for the month-grocery money. We'd be expected to make menus for the month and shop the groceries while staying within budget. She also let us know that if we didn't get enough for the month we'd starve.
This might seem cruel to some but she was training us and she wasn't unreasonable in the amount. We always managed to have enough for the month. That training has served me well. Now I know what I need to buy and what bills I need to pay so I get envelopes with which I mark and put aside money for each bill I expect to receive, I also write a list before I go shopping and try my best to stick to the list. It is a rare thing for me to run out of cash and I usually have no debts.

That is a very good experience and a nice idea to have a shopping list. I do have shopping list when we go grocery shopping but sometimes I can not stick to my list. heheheh.. we are using debit card when we shop so there is no cash involve that sometimes it's hard for me to calculate if the things in the shopping cart is just right for the budget. hehehe
